Hi everyone,
There was something to celebrate
since it was Marie’s 25th birthday two weeks ago. The day itself was
nothing special and felt like every other work day, but in return the evening was
more spectacular. We went to a new burger place in Royal Oak called Jim Brady’s
Detroit. They offer burgers like Charlie Brown (the best Swiss and Bacon
Burger), The Inferno (spicy with fried onions) or Bad Axe (with Applewood
Smoked Bacon and Maple Bourbon Sauce). They all tasted fantastic. After dinner, my
roommates, Donghee and Wen, surprised me with a huge birthday cake at home. There was no
other choice than having it for dessert. It was such a great birthday, although
my family and friends couldn’t celebrate with me as usual.
A lot happened last week. The
main event was St. Patrick’s Day on Thursday, March 17. It all began at the
office in the morning. Larry arrived in a green sweater and Marie also wore a green
shirt. As soon as Larry noticed the missing green clothes of the other
co-workers, he set up a short meeting to clarify the importance of St.
Patrick’s Day. Even if it’s an Irish holiday, the Americans are celebrating
this day very much. The celebration starts already in the morning when you get
dressed and ends in one of the Irish pubs at night. So did we. After work we
directly went to O’Tooles, one the most famous Irish bars in Downtown Royal
Oak. The whole city went crazy and even the beer was green.
On Friday we made German
Schnitzel for our American roommates. It was quite easy to get the ingredients
as well as preparing the meal. We actually did a good job since everyone
enjoyed it.
The following day we went hiking at
Kensington Metropark to burn off the
calories from the night before. It turned out to be a great day even if it’s
still March. Although the temperature was still low, the sun was shining and
the day outdoors was quite nice.
