An Exchange of Cultural Manners

Hi everyone, There was something to celebrate since it was Marie’s 25 th birthday two weeks ago. The day itself was nothing special and felt like every other work day, but in return the evening was more spectacular. We went to a new burger place in Royal Oak called Jim Brady’s Detroit. They offer burgers like Charlie Brown (the best Swiss and Bacon Burger), The Inferno (spicy with fried onions) or Bad Axe (with Applewood Smoked Bacon and Maple Bourbon Sauce). They all tasted fantastic. After dinner, my roommates, Donghee and Wen, surprised me with a huge birthday cake at home. There was no other choice than having it for dessert. It was such a great birthday, although my family and friends couldn’t celebrate with me as usual. A lot happened last week. The main event was St. Patrick’s Day on Thursday, March 17. Welcome America - two new interns at AutoCom

Hi everyone, We – Marie and Florian – are the new interns at AutoCom. We both arrived at the end of February to have some time to organize stuff and to settle in. We both live in Royal Oak in a shared flat for the next six months, where nearly all the other interns from different companies are living. I am Marie and I just finished my master studies in economics at the University of Cologne in Germany. It is my second time living in the U.S.  for half a year. In 2012, I went to San Diego to do a semester abroad. It was fantastic. But as I am experiencing now, you cannot compare California and Michigan. These are totally different states. I arrived on Tuesday night at Detroit Metro Airport, where Nicole picked me up. Right the next morning, it started snowing for two days. Nevertheless, I went out to explore my neighborhood and did a walk to Royal Oak downtown. It was freezing cold, so I made a stop in a cute cafĂ© to have a late breakfast. Atomic Coffee - my new favor
