Time to say goodbye.

Today is one of the worst days at AutoCom because Austin is leaving us. At this point of time, I can’t even imagine how to handle it but on Monday we will have to find the answer. He is so much fun, always the one to talk to first and in addition to being a great colleague, he became a real friend for us! We’ll never ever forget the time with you in the office and how much fun we had with you in our free time for example at the Wolverines game or the birthday party with Jana. Thank you Austin!

About sweets, hearts and pink.

Today is Valentine’s Day or “the day men hate most” or for me: just another Thursday. Ok, one exception: Everyone here freaks out about getting a last-minute date or present and the shops are all decorated in pink or red. Singing Cards with flashing lights, sweets wrapped in sparkling pink paper with romantic lines on it… This is another clash of cultures for me because Valentine’s Day simply is no big deal in Germany. To be honest, I don’t get why people need a day to remember that they should care for their partner. The other new experience for me was Fat Tuesday. It is the last day before the fasting season starts and it is tradition to have lots of food and especially paczkis (comparable to Berliner in Germany). Denise brought some paczkis to the office and we “celebrated” Fat Tuesday together. :D What are your Valentine’s plans and how many paczkis did you have?

Our next big American experience: The Super Bowl!

Some of our new friends enjoying the food :) The Super Bowl, one of the largest sports events in the world, took place last Sunday and of course both of us watched it. Only interrupted by the blackout, we had a great time with our new friends and a whole bunch of food. Of course all that did not go without the cheesy pizza, a ton of chips and a lot of other awesome goodies. The fact that everyone was cheering for a different team made the already exiting come back of the 49er an electrifying football game! What a great experience and memory! How did you experience Super Bowl XLVII? Tell us about how your emotions went up and down during the game!!!
