Hi everyone, It’s been over seven weeks since I arrived in the US and started my internship at AutoCom Associates. I already have experienced so many unique moments which I will never forget. In the past few weeks, I was able to go to Columbus, Ohio for a short weekend trip to see Glass Animals, a British Indie-band, as well as to visit the Ohio State University. To experience an American university campus was such an experience since the campus is way bigger than a university would be in Germany or the UK. Moreover, I was in Detroit Downtown while the Detroit Marathon was happening to cheer on some running friends I’ve made within the Royal Oak Runners Group. Detroit is even nicer with no cars on the streets and the spirit was awesome and inspiring. Detroit has so much to offer. Milky Chance, a German Band, was playing at the Fillmore in Downtown Detroit. Since I am a native German who loves their music, I needed to see them and to support their North American Tour. The
First Week at AutoCom! Hello to everybody: My name is Peter Wessenberg, I am from Straubing, Germany, a smaller town in the south of Bavaria, near Ratisbon. I am the second intern here at AutoCom Associates for the next upcoming six months. I will tell you a little bit of my first experience since my arrival. My first day in Detroit Metropolitan was Thursday September 25 st . My colleague picked me up from the airport and gave me a ride to my apartment in Royal Oak. After a 40-minute drive we arrived there and my landlady Carol was already there to introduce me to my new home for the next 6 months. She is a good contact for housing in Royal Oak. It is a comfortable location for young people with an appropriate distance to work, which will takes about 30 minutes by car. The whole house and especially my room were cozy and well equipped. You don’t need to bring much on your own. In the first picture you can see one of the beautiful sunsets here, directly in front of our f

Welcome to Detroit!

Hey everyone, My name is Eva and I will be an intern at AutoCom for the next six month. My first day at AutoCom was on September 11 th and with that I had a few days since I started my internship to settle in and get familiar with everything. Originally, I am from a small village in Bavaria and I am currently pursuing my bachelor double degree in European Business at the Technical University of Applied Science in Regensburg, Germany. I spent the last year studying at the Oxford Brookes University in the UK. So after a year in the UK, I decided that an internship in the US would be the perfect match for me. As many former interns of AutoCom, I am living in a shared house in Royal Oak with two others. One of my flat mates kindly picked me up from the airport, even though we’ve never met before. After taking me home to our house she took me to downtown Detroit to show me around as well as to pick up some food for dinner after my long trip.  RiverWalk Downtown Detroit

Goodbye Kim!

It’s unbelievable how fast time flies! At the end of January Kim already had her last day here at AutoCom as her internship period came to an end. I’m glad that I could spend the last four months together with her at work and outside of the office as well. She was a great co-worker and always spread a good mood through the office with her smile :) I very much enjoyed our lunch breaks in which we typically ate pasta, rice or wraps together and reviewed the last weekend or talked about food, upcoming and past city trips or the time here in the U.S. in general. I will never forget how she talked to herself while working and how she put balsamic sauce on every lunch break dish she ate. Also, after work and on the weekends we had a great time and did a lot of fun things together. No matter whether we cooked pasta with dinosaur nuggets, went shopping in the evening, listened and sang along to music during our drive to the office or went to a bar or restaurant in Royal Oak – we always

New Year’s Eve & NAIAS Detroit

Since this is our first entry in 2017 we wish you all a happy New Year! We spent the NYE weekend in Canada with some of our friends where we visited Niagara Falls and Toronto. On Friday night after we arrived, we watched the huge fireworks display at the falls that happens weekly at 9 pm.  Our host at our Airbnb was a massive fan of Elvis Presley; therefore he was dressed like him and decorated his home with stuff accordingly. On Saturday we continued our trip to Toronto where we celebrated NYE. Funnily, on that night there were no fireworks in comparison to the night before at Niagara Falls.  The next day we took the boat to Toronto Island where you have an incredible view on the city. It was a great weekend to conclude the year. Now we’re looking forward to what 2017 will bring us.😉  〰〰〰 The annual North American International Auto Show started last Monday (1/9/17), which is a major event here. The day before, we were invited to a backgrounder brunch by Nis
