Hi
everyone,
My
name is Sarah Heuser. I’m 23 years old and from a small town near Cologne, Germany.
I just finished my master’s in Journalism and Corporate Communications at the
University of Applied Sciences in Wuerzburg. Even though I have a bachelor’s
degree in Media and American Studies, I have never been to the US before.
That’s why I really wanted to do an internship here so I could see what life
and work is like.
Rebecca
and Julian, the other AutoCom interns, picked me up from the airport last
Saturday and my new roommates and some of their friends were already waiting
for me. We are all living in Royal Oak, but I’m in a different house than the
other AutoCom interns. They are currently taking me to work as I am still figuring
out details regarding my car.
Last
week, which was also my first week at work, was the 4th of July
holiday. That’s why I joined Rebecca, Julian and other interns on a trip to New
York. We drove over ten hours but it was worth it: the city is impressive and I
loved it. I want to explore as much as I can during my stay here: Detroit, the Great
Lakes, but also Chicago, Toronto and Niagara Falls.
At
the same time I want to learn as much as possible at AutoCom: how to write
press releases, how to interact with clients and how to work in an American
company in general. Having only
worked in larger German companies before, doing an internship in a small
American business will probably be completely different.
I
am looking forward to three months of learning, working, travelling and making
new friends.
