Taking the scenic route to the U.S.

I began my trip to the United States accompanied by my brother last Thursday. We expected to arrive in Royal Oak the same day - but didn’t keep in mind KLM’s booking procedure. The first flight from Frankfurt to Amsterdam went well, but as we were ready to hop on the plane to Detroit, we were denied boarding because the flight was overbooked. Being mad at first, that feeling dissipated quickly after we got our compensation which included free hotel accommodation, a three-course dinner and some money. So we spent a night in Amsterdam and set off to the United Stated the next morning.

Things went more smoothly after arriving in the U.S. We got some administrative things done the first days - and by administrative I mainly mean grocery shopping as it took us ages to find our way through all the “2-for-1” -deals. Once we were finished, we did a bit of sightseeing in Detroit over the weekend: hopping on the People Mover, watching a Red Wings game and taking a walk along Detroit River were all fun and gave us a real positive impression of the city – unlike what the prejudices about Detroit are.

This is only my second week at work, but the beginning is very promising: Véronique and myself went to a PRSA lunch with Jack to hear about the latest trends in PR. It was a great experience and I am looking forward to getting familiarized with all the procedures at AutoCom and to support the team.

About Cologne, Cars and Trees… - Update from the other Side of the Lake

Hi or as we would say in Franconia "Servus", a couple of months have passed since I started my internship at AutoCom and even though I cannot share something about the amazing sites within and around Detroit, I can still give you an update on what is happening. Philipp has joined us two months ago and we two are currently working on the Social Media Appearance of AutoCom. Even as "digital nomads" we encounter challenges and still have a lot to learn. However, it is great just to create new things from scratch or nearly immediately see a result when sharing a story or creating a post. But enough of work… About Cologne Larry and the others offered me to go to Cologne to attend a meeting with a client and I - of course - couldn't resist and decided to stay even a bit longer. Jack inducted into PRSA Detroit Chapter Hall of Fame!

Hi everyone! Last night we went to the PRSA Detroit Chapter’s annual meeting. During the meeting was a ceremony for Jack Harned’s induction into the Hall of Fame. The meeting was downtown at the beautiful DTE Energy building. We had a great time networking with fellow colleagues in the PR industry and catching up with previous AutoCom employees. After dinner, Marty gave a great introduction to Jack. Jack’s speech was absolutely wonderful! Every one loved it! He talked about some of his past experiences from his hometown newspaper to working with GM and NASA. It seemed that everyone loved hearing his stories as much as we do at our Friday lunches! It’s great to know that Jack’s peers recognize all of his hard work. He has accomplished and seen so much, he truly deserves this award. From all of us at AutoCom: Congrats, Jack! Hey AutoComers, First of all I wish you all a very merry Christmas and a wonderful time with your family and friends! How have you all been? I moved back to Cambridge this fall to continue my last year of studies. I was really really happy to be a student again after working for a year, especially after my pretty stressful internship at BMW…. And now I want to work again J never right the way it is… Life in Cambridge is fun. I live with 4 roommates and we share a flat very close to the city center and University. So this year we can actually walk places and didn’t have to buy bikes again… (yea mine was unfortunately gone after a year and a half left in the city center all by itself chained to a post) There has not much been going on lately, I have only been writing assignments for the last 8 weeks, my final year is very busy.
