News from Nicky

Hi AutoComers,

Thank you very much for the nice Christmas card you sent me. I was so happy when I got it and I thought back to my wonderful time in Michigan. I hope all of you had a wonderful Christmas time with good food (unfortunately too much food for me in the last days) and leisure time with your family. I don’t know why, but the time before Christmas is always stressful for me. Lot’s of stuff to do for university, I have to get presents for friends and family and everybody is celebrating the coming Christmas days with parties or at the Christmas market in Stuttgart.

But at least when it’s December 24th everything is ok and it’s time to relax and to write something for the AutoCom blog ;-) I know I’m a little bit late….

When I moved back to Germany I started the 5th semester at the university and also a new part-time job at a marketing agency in Stuttgart called “Seyther Kommunikation” (http://www.seyther-kommunikation.de/ the web site is unfortunately only in German). It is totally different from the work at AutoCom, because it’s not a public relations agency. Except the things I learned form Maagie when I helped her to organize all the events for AutoCom (that was so much fun, thanks Maagie!). Our latest big projects were an exhibition stand for Siemens at the Opening of the New Stuttgart Trade Fair Center and the employee event “Bavarian Evening” for the “Deutsche Post” (the German postal service).
On one hand I’m glad to be back in Germany with my family and friends. But on the other hand I miss lots of things in the States. There is Momma Dee, who had always an open ear for me; working together with Maagie and especially our trip to Traverse City in August; Jan, who was never angry when I came with some new ideas; Marty, who taught me a lot about PR, Jack and our interesting media lunches (I know I had lots of questions), Larry, who taught me a lot about PR-business (and it was always exciting to come to your office) and the girls and Paul, who took me out and showed me life in Detroit.

I hope everybody is fine and I wish all of you a Happy New Year 2008!
All the best,
Nicky.

Hi Nicki...

Great hearing from you! We miss you, but are glad to hear that you're doing so well.

Where did Pablo come from? Great to know that the blog is getting read in Espana, however.

Perhaps someone from Spain or Latin America will even apply for an internship here one of these days.

Best wishes..

Larry

About Cologne, Cars and Trees… - Update from the other Side of the Lake

Hi or as we would say in Franconia "Servus", a couple of months have passed since I started my internship at AutoCom and even though I cannot share something about the amazing sites within and around Detroit, I can still give you an update on what is happening.  Philipp has joined us two months ago and we two are currently working on the Social Media Appearance of AutoCom. Even as "digital nomads" we encounter challenges and still have a lot to learn. However, it is great just to create new things from scratch or nearly immediately see a result when sharing a story or creating a post.  But enough of work… About Cologne Larry and the others offered me to go to Cologne to attend a meeting with a client and I - of course - couldn't resist and decided to stay even a bit longer. It was a nice trip with splendid late summer weather and I was able to take a lot of images - at least until my battery died.  About cars Since some of my initial projects were crushed by th...
Hi everyone, My name is Sarah Heuser. I’m 23 years old and from a small town near Cologne, Germany. I just finished my master’s in Journalism and Corporate Communications at the University of Applied Sciences in Wuerzburg. Even though I have a bachelor’s degree in Media and American Studies, I have never been to the US before. That’s why I really wanted to do an internship here so I could see what life and work is like. Rebecca and Julian, the other AutoCom interns, picked me up from the airport last Saturday and my new roommates and some of their friends were already waiting for me. We are all living in Royal Oak, but I’m in a different house than the other AutoCom interns. They are currently taking me to work as I am still figuring out details regarding my car. Last week, which was also my first week at work, was the 4 th of July holiday. That’s why I joined Rebecca, Julian and other interns on a trip to New York. We drove over ten hours but it was worth it: the city is impr...

A New Year, a New Intern

Hi everybody, My name is Véronique and I am happy to say that I will be one of the new interns at AutoCom beginning on March 19. I am a 21 year old student from Germany. The internship is part of my International Business & Management degree that I am working on at the Hanze University in Groningen, Netherlands. I am currently in my third year at Hanze University and the previous semester I studied abroad at a partner university in Macau, China, where I took courses related to my marketing major. I am very excited to start my second stay abroad in a few weeks and I hope that I will gain a lot of professional experience and get to know the area of public relations while working at AutoCom. I also love traveling, so I hope I will be able to see as much of the U.S. as possible, especially since it is my first stay there. It has always been a dream of mine to visit the U.S. and now being able to learn the entire culture and industry by actually living there is a huge bonus. Right now I...
