Motown Detroit lives up to its name

Last week was one of the most exciting times of my internship so far because everything focused on this year’s North American International Autoshow at Cobo Center, Detroit. I had the opportunity to meet one of our clients at their Hospitality Suite during industry preview days and explored the show after.
It was very nice to meet the HELLA team who explained their high-tech safety systems and their lightening technologies to me, provided to a several number of popular cars like Audi, Mercedes or Cadillac.
After lunch I visited the BASF booth, because I was interested in what they were presenting to journalists and key industry people. After a cup of coffee and a nice talk to one of the European Sales Managers, I entered the auto show and felt like a child running from one luxury car to another outstanding vehicle, sitting inside, checking out some electronic devices, skipping to the next.

All day long I was dreaming about driving one of them in the future – especially the Ford GT, the star of the show with over 600 horse power :))) But even all the other cars were absolutely impressive. For the first time I was sitting in a Porsche equipped with the Italian-made luxury Alcantara material. Furthermore I tried one of the Dodge’s, a Maserati and some other brands I never heard of before. It was a very nice day with an unforgettable end, when the sun was setting beyond the frozen Detroit River. Wow!!

And now from the top cars of the world to somewhere close to the bottom – my car ;)
As I told you we had -20 degrees Celsius for a long time. Tuesday in the sunny - but at the same time freezing morning, shortly after setting my car free from tons of snow and ice (as every morning) I planned to move and started the car but there was nothing more than a “click”.. and again.. “click”.
I understood it like a “no, sorry, not today, way too cold!” :D Fortunately a couple of days later, the battery was replaced and now everything is fine –never a dull moment! Meanwhile it is pretty warm with only -3 degrees Celsius – never thought I would call it warm.
Besides exciting times with my car, my birthday was on a Friday and I went to a friends’ parent’s house with a couple of guys in East Lansing. We had an amazing time, celebrating and discovering Lansing, the capital of Michigan. With delicious food at a Korean place where a chef was cooking right in front of us at the table and good drinks at nice bars we had lots of fun in Lansing. Last but not least we went to an exciting college basketball game where the MSU-players won during overtime on Sunday.

After receiving a midterm valuation form from my visa sponsor this week, I realized I already passed the halftime of my six month internship.. unbelievable! That reminds me to make the best and plan for adventures for this unforgettable period of my life.
Be prepared for my upcoming stories in the U.S.A.!

About Cologne, Cars and Trees… - Update from the other Side of the Lake

Hi or as we would say in Franconia "Servus", a couple of months have passed since I started my internship at AutoCom and even though I cannot share something about the amazing sites within and around Detroit, I can still give you an update on what is happening.  Philipp has joined us two months ago and we two are currently working on the Social Media Appearance of AutoCom. Even as "digital nomads" we encounter challenges and still have a lot to learn. However, it is great just to create new things from scratch or nearly immediately see a result when sharing a story or creating a post.  But enough of work… About Cologne Larry and the others offered me to go to Cologne to attend a meeting with a client and I - of course - couldn't resist and decided to stay even a bit longer. It was a nice trip with splendid late summer weather and I was able to take a lot of images - at least until my battery died.  About cars Since some of my initial projects were crushed by th...

I won’t be an intern anymore. :)

Hi everybody! There is news again from my life. You know, I am a person who never stops doing something. Either I travel almost every weekend (like I did in the States) or I am looking for new challenges all the time. :-) Well, my internship in Munich as a marketing consulting intern is not too bad, but I have finished University…so what I want is a real job and not an internship. (The only internship I would love to do, even after I graduated, is the one I already did with AutoCom). :) So I continued applying for jobs. I restricted the area to Bavaria for the first applications, because I love that part of Germany. I love the Bavarian dialect (it is so cute and sexy the same time). I love their “Brezn” and their white sausages. And here is the news: I will start on the 26th of November as an employee at Novartis. Novartis is a huge German pharmaceutical company. I will work there for the strategic sourcing marketing. So I will be the one choosing agencies, advertising materials and so...
Hi everyone, My name is Sarah Heuser. I’m 23 years old and from a small town near Cologne, Germany. I just finished my master’s in Journalism and Corporate Communications at the University of Applied Sciences in Wuerzburg. Even though I have a bachelor’s degree in Media and American Studies, I have never been to the US before. That’s why I really wanted to do an internship here so I could see what life and work is like. Rebecca and Julian, the other AutoCom interns, picked me up from the airport last Saturday and my new roommates and some of their friends were already waiting for me. We are all living in Royal Oak, but I’m in a different house than the other AutoCom interns. They are currently taking me to work as I am still figuring out details regarding my car. Last week, which was also my first week at work, was the 4 th of July holiday. That’s why I joined Rebecca, Julian and other interns on a trip to New York. We drove over ten hours but it was worth it: the city is impr...
