….It was summer time in Northern – Michigan!

… It was summer time in Northern Michigan! Hello again! As Niko and Merle are already gone, it is quite empty and quiet in the AutoCom office… I hope both of them had a relaxing flight and arrived safely back home. I wish Niko all the best for his future and an amazing road trip across California. Do not forget to share some pictures with us!!! Fortunately, Merle is still part of our team, and I am so happy that I can carry on and bother her with lots of questions!   Since I spent the last two weekends relaxing in Royal Oak and visiting the great malls nearby, it was time to discover other places in the USA.   As the leaves are already changing colors, my friend Sarah and I decided to catch the last shafts of sunlight in the North of Michigan.  After an exhausting five-hour drive, we finally arrived at our first attraction – The “Sleeping Bear Dune.”   Surprisingly instead of a hiking trail, one discovered the national park by car. We were very ...

The last update…

Hi all, Yes, my internship is (almost) over. That’s why I’ll give you my last update and from now on I’ll leave you with Sophia and all the new interns at AutoCom in the future. In the meantime almost all of my former roommates moved to different cities, I got to know new people and I do miss my former buddies. My former roommate Jon was the last one to leave me in Royal Oak. But it didn’t take long for us to meet up again. Directly the weekend after he left I drove to Chicago to see his new home. There we met up with another former roomie who moved to North Carolina some time ago. But since that is not enough I’ve also invited a friend from Germany. She’s in Atlanta right now for her internship and it was super easy to meet in Chicago with her, as well. So – the Labor Day weekend was fun in Chicago. We’ve done a lot of tourist activities, drove up the Hancock Tower, went to the Navy Pier and enjoyed brilliant weather and sunshine all day long. Chicago is an amazing city. ...

In love with the windy city

Hello everybody!  My time in the States is passing so fast. I cannot believe that my sixth week has already started. During the last month I have managed to get used to the American traffic and got into my daily routine. I finally moved into another house, where I really enjoy living. My roommates are really nice and I love spending my free-time with them. In my last blog I promised to tell you about my first trip to Chicago: I went there with my friends Sanja and Lisa, who unfortunately have already left L . We had great weather and spent the Saturday walking through the city and doing sightseeing and some shopping. I was so impressed by its architecture as well as by its combination of skyscrapers and green parks. On Sunday we discovered the promenade on the Michigan Lake and its harbor.  Later on we took a walk from the “Shedd Aquarium” to the “Navy Pier”, which was amazing, because you were able to see the whole Chicago- Skyline and the seaside with its deep blu...

Enjoy the last days of summer in Detroit

Hi there, Its Niko again. I am still here and want to give you the next update. Since I wrote the last story some time went by. In the meantime I’ve picked up Sophia (you know her already…) from the airport. I had roadtrips to up north and to Chicago. We had a farewell party for one of my roommates and at work we’re busy with planning our Frankfurt IAA dinner and preparing AutoCom for the wintertime. At the end of July I was on a trip to the Upper Peninsula. That’s that part of Michigan that is almost Canada. Except for unbelievably beautiful nature there is pretty much nothing up there. Even no cellphone service. But that’s exactly what’s interesting. We went to the pictured rocks. A riff-shore on Lake Superior that’s really worth seeing it. Some travel-magazines even voted it as a secret tip for USA visitors and a must-see. And I can only agree. Look at the pictures and see for yourself.   Up there was also the location for Kid Rock’s musicvideo “Born Free”. And ...

Goodbye Germany! Hello Detroit!

Hi there, I am Sophia – AutoComs’ new intern. I am an undergraduate student of International Business from Aalen, Germany and I will support the team for six months. I am looking forward to have an instructive time and to make many remarkable experiences in the field of public relations and event management. After I had said goodbye to my family and friends, I sat in the airplane - ready to take off and full of expectations, ideas, but also fears as well as excitement about the greatest adventure of my life.  When I arrived in the States, Niko picked me up from the airport and helped me to do my first steps into the American lifestyle. My first night I spent in an only girls-house of my landlord, where I met two girls, which I already proudly call friends. We have already set up two traditions: going out for tacos on taco-tuesday and treating ourselves with a frozen-yoghurt on Fridays. Actually we are more into the delicious toppings than into the fro-yo… J Due to space...
