Season change

My first month here at AutoCom is already over. A lot has happened in the past few weeks. Firstly, I finally did some sightseeing. We went to downtown Detroit to explore the city on a very nice day. It is really beautiful which is a little surprising as Detroit tends to have a rather negative reputation. We walked along the water where you can see Canada on the other side of the river.

Additionally, Marie and Florian both left AutoCom and Royal Oak at the end of August. Since Florian used to live with us, my housemate and I took him to the bus station the other night where he left for Chicago after having a farewell BBQ at home. Ever since, I am the only intern in the office until the new intern, Lisa, arrives in October. So far it’s been going great at work; Larry and everyone on the team are very nice and helpful.

There is always something happening in the area so that it never gets boring during my free time. On Labor Day weekend for example, there was this festival called Arts, Beats and Eats in downtown Royal Oak and at the same time there was a Jazz festival in downtown Detroit. Both were really fun to check out.

Last Saturday we went to a college football game at Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor to watch Michigan play (and win) against Central Florida. Even though the game didn’t start until noon, a lot of people arrived there early in the morning to hang out in frat houses or in the streets. Wherever you looked, you could see the colors maize and blue. Before that day I had thought that Ford Field in Detroit, where I watched my first football game, was huge but this one is even bigger and more crowded.

Fall is now coming up; I am excited for what it will bring.

Great post, Kim. It's a pleasure to have you at AutoCom. Glad to see that you made it up to the University of Michigan's "Big House" as well.

Go Blue!

About Cologne, Cars and Trees… - Update from the other Side of the Lake

Hi or as we would say in Franconia "Servus", a couple of months have passed since I started my internship at AutoCom and even though I cannot share something about the amazing sites within and around Detroit, I can still give you an update on what is happening.  Philipp has joined us two months ago and we two are currently working on the Social Media Appearance of AutoCom. Even as "digital nomads" we encounter challenges and still have a lot to learn. However, it is great just to create new things from scratch or nearly immediately see a result when sharing a story or creating a post.  But enough of work… About Cologne Larry and the others offered me to go to Cologne to attend a meeting with a client and I - of course - couldn't resist and decided to stay even a bit longer. It was a nice trip with splendid late summer weather and I was able to take a lot of images - at least until my battery died.  About cars Since some of my initial projects were crushed by th...

A New Year, a New Intern

Hi everybody, My name is Véronique and I am happy to say that I will be one of the new interns at AutoCom beginning on March 19. I am a 21 year old student from Germany. The internship is part of my International Business & Management degree that I am working on at the Hanze University in Groningen, Netherlands. I am currently in my third year at Hanze University and the previous semester I studied abroad at a partner university in Macau, China, where I took courses related to my marketing major. I am very excited to start my second stay abroad in a few weeks and I hope that I will gain a lot of professional experience and get to know the area of public relations while working at AutoCom. I also love traveling, so I hope I will be able to see as much of the U.S. as possible, especially since it is my first stay there. It has always been a dream of mine to visit the U.S. and now being able to learn the entire culture and industry by actually living there is a huge bonus. Right now I...

It feels good to be home!

After completing my third year at Northern Michigan University in the Upper Peninsula, it feels good to be back home and in the office again. Larry was very gracious in allowing me to come back to AutoCom. For those of you that do not know me, my name is Tedi Falvo. Last summer I did an internship with AutoCom, and learned a lot about public relations outside of the classroom. Books can only teach you so much- the real learning comes when you go out on your own and put everything you have learned to the test. Last summer was a great experience, and I was thankful to work with such a great staff that was willing to help me succeed. While I was in Marquette, Mich. continuing my studies in public relations, and sociology, I remained in contact with AutoCom. When I had a question regarding an aspect of my studies, I always knew where to turn! It is nice to have wonderful people surrounding and filling you with all of their knowledge. That is one aspect I love about working here-everyone wo...
