Hello everybody!
My time in the States is passing so fast. I
cannot believe that my sixth week has already started. During the last month I
have managed to get used to the American traffic and got into my daily routine.
I finally moved into another house, where I really enjoy living. My roommates
are really nice and I love spending my free-time with them.
In my last blog I promised to tell you about my first trip
to Chicago: I went there with my friends Sanja and Lisa, who unfortunately have
already leftL.
We had great weather and spent the Saturday walking through the city and doing
sightseeing and some shopping. I was so impressed by its architecture as well
as by its combination of skyscrapers and green parks. On Sunday we discovered
the promenade on the Michigan Lake and its harbor. Later on we took a walk from the “Shedd
Aquarium” to the “Navy Pier”, which was amazing, because you were able to see
the whole Chicago- Skyline and the seaside with its deep blue water bear
alikeness to a Mediterranean one. Finally
we finished our trip with a great burger at 5guys!
After I have fallen in love with this impressive city, I was
happy to join my German friend Sarah and her roommate Thomas on visiting the
windy city again. The whole last week I was looking forward seeing her again
and to spend the weekend together. After they had picked me up on Saturday
morning, we spent 5 hours chatting in the car and getting to Chicago. After we had managed to find our hostel and
the tube station we went to Downtown and visited the navy pier. Subsequent we had relaxed, we walked back to
the city center and enjoyed the view from a rooftop-bar. 
As it was the Labor Day-weekend, the Jazz-festival of
Chicago took place. So we had a chance to finish our busy day with a nice
concert at the Millennium –Park. On Sunday we went up on the Willis-Tower,
which is the second largest building in the world and offers a great view over
the Chicago-area. Unfortunately it was quite busy, because of the Labor Day-weekend
and we had to wait over three hours, but nevertheless we were able to enjoy
this incredible building. Afterwards we had one of the hotdogs Chicago is famous
for and went to the “Chicago outlet mall”, where you can purchase many bargains
from different popular brands. Due to my low budget I could not buy a lot of
things, but I am sure I will come back as soon as I have finished my degree! :)
