“Up-North”- More than just snow and coldnes

Winter in Michigan can be a lot fun, especially because we are enjoying one of the snowiest winters ever :-).

According to the snow records in the Detroit area, 31.1 inches of snow has fallen in January around here. These bounds are making it the snowiest January in Detroit in history (The old record of 29.6 inches is from 1978).

We picked this weekend to go even further north in Michigan, to a city called Indian River.

Friday right after work we packed-up our stuff, got in the car and took the four-hour ride to Indian River where we had rented a cabin with 14 people. It was a huge cottage with everything (Living room with an awesome fireplace and view over the frozen lake, billiards, darts, sauna, a hot tub outside and of course sufficient bedrooms and bathrooms for everyone)  that was necessary for a wonderful and relaxing weekend with even more snow then we had seen before in Detroit.

Arriving late at night, we enjoyed the rest of the day with a wonderful homemade dinner.

Saturday morning a wonderful white day gave us the opportunity to drive even further north.
Driving over the Mackinac Bridge, which connects the Upper and Lower Peninsulas of Michigan, we got to Tahquamenon Falls State Park.  This park is Michigan’s second largest state park and with its two beautiful waterfalls is a popular tourist destination.

We had a lot of fun walking through the nature and jumping into the snow, which was at some points deeper than our hips.

The next day we decided to rent some snowmobiles. It was the first time for all of us and we had a lot of fun driving the snowmobiles all day long! That was the reason why we were also happy coming back home Sunday night.

It was really an incredible weekend where we had the opportunity to see amazing nature while at the same time experiencing a new adventure.

About Cologne, Cars and Trees… - Update from the other Side of the Lake

Hi or as we would say in Franconia "Servus", a couple of months have passed since I started my internship at AutoCom and even though I cannot share something about the amazing sites within and around Detroit, I can still give you an update on what is happening.  Philipp has joined us two months ago and we two are currently working on the Social Media Appearance of AutoCom. Even as "digital nomads" we encounter challenges and still have a lot to learn. However, it is great just to create new things from scratch or nearly immediately see a result when sharing a story or creating a post.  But enough of work… About Cologne Larry and the others offered me to go to Cologne to attend a meeting with a client and I - of course - couldn't resist and decided to stay even a bit longer. It was a nice trip with splendid late summer weather and I was able to take a lot of images - at least until my battery died.  About cars Since some of my initial projects were crushed by th...

A New Year, a New Intern

Hi everybody, My name is Véronique and I am happy to say that I will be one of the new interns at AutoCom beginning on March 19. I am a 21 year old student from Germany. The internship is part of my International Business & Management degree that I am working on at the Hanze University in Groningen, Netherlands. I am currently in my third year at Hanze University and the previous semester I studied abroad at a partner university in Macau, China, where I took courses related to my marketing major. I am very excited to start my second stay abroad in a few weeks and I hope that I will gain a lot of professional experience and get to know the area of public relations while working at AutoCom. I also love traveling, so I hope I will be able to see as much of the U.S. as possible, especially since it is my first stay there. It has always been a dream of mine to visit the U.S. and now being able to learn the entire culture and industry by actually living there is a huge bonus. Right now I...

It feels good to be home!

After completing my third year at Northern Michigan University in the Upper Peninsula, it feels good to be back home and in the office again. Larry was very gracious in allowing me to come back to AutoCom. For those of you that do not know me, my name is Tedi Falvo. Last summer I did an internship with AutoCom, and learned a lot about public relations outside of the classroom. Books can only teach you so much- the real learning comes when you go out on your own and put everything you have learned to the test. Last summer was a great experience, and I was thankful to work with such a great staff that was willing to help me succeed. While I was in Marquette, Mich. continuing my studies in public relations, and sociology, I remained in contact with AutoCom. When I had a question regarding an aspect of my studies, I always knew where to turn! It is nice to have wonderful people surrounding and filling you with all of their knowledge. That is one aspect I love about working here-everyone wo...
