News from our former intern Mareike...

Hey AutoCom guys and ladies,

Now it’s over a year ago that I left Detroit to finish my studies. I cannot believe that time is going by so fast. I will give you just a little report, what happened in my life in the meantime.

I finally turned in my thesis, which took a load off my mind. I mean… as u know…directly afterwards I got on a plane to see you guys. It was really great being able to see you again. Especially your faces were just amusing: “I know that girl… but with long hair”.

After leaving Detroit I visited Boston and New York. I don’t know why, but I don’t care too much about New York. But Boston was just great. I fell in love with that city right away. It looks really European and is so much cleaner than New York :-). But nobody told me that arriving at the Boston Airport is such an adventure. You really think you will crash into the water.

And I can tell you one thing: Your economy must have improved a lot after I went back to Germany. I shopped like there is no tomorrow :-). But it was actually only half the fun without my little Senior Intern Nicky! :-(

Back In Germany I started my first “real real job” :-) If you know what I mean. Not being a student assistant anymore, instead working full time. I work for a media planning agency at the so called Düsseldorf Media Harbor.

And I know one thing for sure… Andi would love it here, because we have a vending machine and coke, sprite and fanta for free…. as much as we want…every day :-) But I am pretty proud, in 7 weeks I only made use of that vending machines three times.
BTW, speaking of the devil (--> Andi): I really think Andi is haunting me… In my last job I shared an office with a coworker called Andre and now I am in an office with Andrea…: Andi everywhere… :-)

I hope you are all doing fine and that you will have a wonderful Christmas time. I will say goodbye now with two last pics: One of the traditional Christmas market (which you find all over Germany during this time, but this picture is from the one in Bonn, where I went to school). The other pic is of the famous “senior angel”! @ all current interns: Whatever Andi is saying about me and that she needed to wash my tongue with soap… it’s NOT true… this is my real identity :-)

Fröhliche Weihnachten, eure Mareike

About Cologne, Cars and Trees… - Update from the other Side of the Lake

Hi or as we would say in Franconia "Servus", a couple of months have passed since I started my internship at AutoCom and even though I cannot share something about the amazing sites within and around Detroit, I can still give you an update on what is happening.  Philipp has joined us two months ago and we two are currently working on the Social Media Appearance of AutoCom. Even as "digital nomads" we encounter challenges and still have a lot to learn. However, it is great just to create new things from scratch or nearly immediately see a result when sharing a story or creating a post.  But enough of work… About Cologne Larry and the others offered me to go to Cologne to attend a meeting with a client and I - of course - couldn't resist and decided to stay even a bit longer. It was a nice trip with splendid late summer weather and I was able to take a lot of images - at least until my battery died.  About cars Since some of my initial projects were crushed by th...

I won’t be an intern anymore. :)

Hi everybody! There is news again from my life. You know, I am a person who never stops doing something. Either I travel almost every weekend (like I did in the States) or I am looking for new challenges all the time. :-) Well, my internship in Munich as a marketing consulting intern is not too bad, but I have finished University…so what I want is a real job and not an internship. (The only internship I would love to do, even after I graduated, is the one I already did with AutoCom). :) So I continued applying for jobs. I restricted the area to Bavaria for the first applications, because I love that part of Germany. I love the Bavarian dialect (it is so cute and sexy the same time). I love their “Brezn” and their white sausages. And here is the news: I will start on the 26th of November as an employee at Novartis. Novartis is a huge German pharmaceutical company. I will work there for the strategic sourcing marketing. So I will be the one choosing agencies, advertising materials and so...

Time to say Goodbye

Only two days left until Don Haberek will leave the AutoCom Team. He was our COO, interns supervisor and the best cake cutter ever! He always had time for the intern's issues and was listening very patiently and carefully to us. Even if he had to repeat his advice a billion times for the foreign interns! But he wasn't only a great interns supervisor. He also gave everbody the oppotunity to gain some weight, when he was cutting perfectly our (nearly weekly ;-)) cake. We really hope, we will find somebody who has the same great technic to cut a cake: 1) Be very gentle to the cake! 2) Use a very sharpe-edged knife, especially our chocolate junky Mareike doesn't want to waste a bit! 3) Be sure that you cut enough pieces. But we think we allready have a new cake cutter. After a long long time Don finally found his twin brother. And accidentally he is working for AutoCom aswell. :-) Who is dressing like Don, must have the same skills! Thanks for everything, we wi ll miss having...
