Interns@AutoCom

The end of the summer also means that our big event season is almost over. For us it started with Tech Crawl 2013 in July. This year’s Tech crawl at the Pine Lake Country Club was hosted by Autocom clients Behr, GIBBS, INFICON, Elektrobit, MAHLE and Saphran.  The day was filled with product demonstrations, presentations on latest technology and business updates. Preparing Tech Crawl, one of AutoCom’s biggest events, was very exciting but also a lot of work. From sending out invitations, planning the course for the  day including fun activities for the attendees, to venue arrangements .Seeing at the end of the day that the event was such a success and the hard work paid off was a very good feeling. With summer season being one of the busiest times of the year the CAR MBS Sunset Dinner was right around the corner after Tech Crawl. It has been a while  since our last post, but we will promise to keep you updated more frequently on what is going on at AutoCom from now on. Since the summer is almost over and we are expecting new interns to arrive we thought it would be nice to share with you, why it is so great to be here in Michigan! Today is my last day at AutoCom, so it’s time to sing the swan song. I truly have to say my internship at AutoCom has been a great experience. I’ve met some amazing people and learned an exuberant amount about the public relations industry. I did so many different things while at AutoCom that it would be exhausting to list them all.  I must give a sincere thank you to Larry Weis, president and CEO of AutoCom . He pushed me hard, which made me stronger, and I learned so much from observing how he works. I will miss reminiscing with Jack and Merle during lunch, and sponging all of Jack’s wisdom from his many years of working in the public relations industry. I could listen to that man talk for hours!  Moving forward I feel like I can accomplish anything. I’m not sure what my future holds, but I know it will be promising. And a shout out to Craig, Denise and Palmer. You are awesome! Thank you!  Trevor 

Last Tuesday Merle was invited to join Jack on a tour of WXYZ, channel 7. This tour was guided by Colleen Clement, Executive Producer at WXYZ-TV as part of the Open world Leadership program of the International visitors’ council, Detroit. The Open World Program is an initiative of and funded by the United States Congress that builds mutual understanding between the emerging leaders of participating countries and their U.S. counterparts. It also exposes delegates to ideas and practices they can adapt for use in their own work. The IVC Detroit acts as a liaison between international visitors and their Detroit-area counterparts each year. For this program six journalists from the country of Georgia were invited to the United States to explore Detroit and its world of journalism. The tour at channel 7 started with a roundtable discussion, joined by an investigative producer and a social media reporter.  Last week was a very exciting week for us interns at AutoCom. On Tuesday two AutoCom events took place.   A client luncheon at Joes Muer’s Seafood and the SAE Annual Supplier dinner at Coach Insignia, which is one of AutoCom’s major events. Apart from meeting our clients, media attendees, networking and REALLY good food, these events marked our first milestones of our internship at a PR agency. For the first time we were actively involved in planning, organizing and participating in big events. We learned a lot about the importance of keeping calm even though things are going wrong, being well organized, teamwork and overall good communication. With everybody in the office working on different assignments and being involved in several other projects, it was really important to follow up regular in order to stay on track.   We experienced the feeling of relief when the event you were planning for months works out just the way you wanted it to (even with so...
