Hi everyone! My name is Rebecca, I am 22 years old and from Germany. Since my bachelor’s program at the Technische Hochschule Nuernberg requires a mandatory internship abroad, I was eager to return to the US, where I have already spent a year as an Au pair. This time around, receiving my Visa was rather tough, as the final decision was made spontaneously and everything had been on a tight schedule.   However, everything worked out perfectly fine and I arrived in Detroit on 20 February. For the time being, I am staying at the same house in Royal Oak as my predecessor, Stefanie – even in the same room! My housemates are extremely nice, they help me out a lot as I am still in the middle of organizing all different kinds of formalities. During my 6-month stay, I am excited to explore Detroit, the greater Michigan area as well as parts of the US I haven’t seen before, like the Niagara Falls or cities in Illinois and Indiana. Hello everyone, My name is Stefanie and I earned my bachelor’s degree in Business Studies with the focus on marketing from the University of Applied Sciences Regensburg, Germany in June.   During my studies, I did an Internship in the communications department at Maschinenfabrik Reinhausen in Regensburg.   To be prepared for the daily work in an international company, I decided to complement my bachelor’s degree with an internship abroad as an account assistant at AutoCom Associates in Michigan. When I arrived on Friday, August 17, the current interns Sandra and Julia picked me up from the airport in Detroit and we drove to Royal Oak, where I will live with Julia and 3 other people from different countries in a typical Michigan house. The first night we went straight to a Detroit Lions football game at Ford Field. Hello everyone! My name is Sandra Henzold, and I just started an internship as an account assistant with AutoCom Associates for the next six months. Michigan is much different from Gunzenhausen, in the south of Germany where I am from. Snowfall is plentiful here in Michigan, and the food is distinctly American! I have earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Studies from the University of Regensburg, Germany. During my studies, I served as an intern at BMW Regensburg, Germany and as a working student at Continental Regensburg, Germany at the Marketing & Communications Department, so I feel prepared for the work I’ll do over the next six months. Hello everyone! My name in Julia Galan and I am serving an internship as an account assistant with AutoCom Associates for the next year. Michigan is much different from Leon, in the north of Spain where I am from. Although I am still a student, I have earned a bachelor’s degree in Advertising and Public Relations from the University of Valladolid, Spain and a master’s degree in degree in Protocol Management, production organization and design of events from Camilo Jose Cela University, Spain , so I feel somewhat prepared for the work I’ll do over the next 12 months. Hi everyone, It’s been over seven weeks since I arrived in the US and started my internship at AutoCom Associates. I already have experienced so many unique moments which I will never forget. In the past few weeks, I was able to go to Columbus, Ohio for a short weekend trip to see Glass Animals, a British Indie-band, as well as to visit the Ohio State University. To experience an American university campus was such an experience since the campus is way bigger than a university would be in Germany or the UK. Moreover, I was in Detroit Downtown while the Detroit Marathon was happening to cheer on some running friends I’ve made within the Royal Oak Runners Group. Detroit is even nicer with no cars on the streets and the spirit was awesome and inspiring. Detroit has so much to offer. Milky Chance, a German Band, was playing at the Fillmore in Downtown Detroit. First Week at AutoCom! Hello to everybody: My name is Peter Wessenberg, I am from Straubing, Germany, a smaller town in the south of Bavaria, near Ratisbon. I am the second intern here at AutoCom Associates for the next upcoming six months. I will tell you a little bit of my first experience since my arrival. My first day in Detroit Metropolitan was Thursday September 25 st . My colleague picked me up from the airport and gave me a ride to my apartment in Royal Oak. After a 40-minute drive we arrived there and my landlady Carol was already there to introduce me to my new home for the next 6 months. She is a good contact for housing in Royal Oak. It is a comfortable location for young people with an appropriate distance to work, which will takes about 30 minutes by car. The whole house and especially my room were cozy and well equipped. Hey everyone, My name is Eva and I will be an intern at AutoCom for the next six month. My first day at AutoCom was on September 11 th and with that I had a few days since I started my internship to settle in and get familiar with everything. Originally, I am from a small village in Bavaria and I am currently pursuing my bachelor double degree in European Business at the Technical University of Applied Science in Regensburg, Germany. I spent the last year studying at the Oxford Brookes University in the UK. So after a year in the UK, I decided that an internship in the US would be the perfect match for me. As many former interns of AutoCom, I am living in a shared house in Royal Oak with two others. One of my flat mates kindly picked me up from the airport, even though we’ve never met before.
