Season change

My first month here at AutoCom is already over. A lot has happened in the past few weeks. Firstly, I finally did some sightseeing. We went to downtown Detroit to explore the city on a very nice day. It is really beautiful which is a little surprising as Detroit tends to have a rather negative reputation. We walked along the water where you can see Canada on the other side of the river.

Additionally, Marie and Florian both left AutoCom and Royal Oak at the end of August. Since Florian used to live with us, my housemate and I took him to the bus station the other night where he left for Chicago after having a farewell BBQ at home. Ever since, I am the only intern in the office until the new intern, Lisa, arrives in October. So far it’s been going great at work; Larry and everyone on the team are very nice and helpful.

There is always something happening in the area so that it never gets boring during my free time. On Labor Day weekend for example, there was this festival called Arts, Beats and Eats in downtown Royal Oak and at the same time there was a Jazz festival in downtown Detroit. Both were really fun to check out.

Last Saturday we went to a college football game at Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor to watch Michigan play (and win) against Central Florida. Even though the game didn’t start until noon, a lot of people arrived there early in the morning to hang out in frat houses or in the streets. Wherever you looked, you could see the colors maize and blue. Before that day I had thought that Ford Field in Detroit, where I watched my first football game, was huge but this one is even bigger and more crowded.

Fall is now coming up; I am excited for what it will bring.

Great post, Kim. It's a pleasure to have you at AutoCom. Glad to see that you made it up to the University of Michigan's "Big House" as well.

Go Blue!

About Cologne, Cars and Trees… - Update from the other Side of the Lake

Hi or as we would say in Franconia "Servus", a couple of months have passed since I started my internship at AutoCom and even though I cannot share something about the amazing sites within and around Detroit, I can still give you an update on what is happening.  Philipp has joined us two months ago and we two are currently working on the Social Media Appearance of AutoCom. Even as "digital nomads" we encounter challenges and still have a lot to learn. However, it is great just to create new things from scratch or nearly immediately see a result when sharing a story or creating a post.  But enough of work… About Cologne Larry and the others offered me to go to Cologne to attend a meeting with a client and I - of course - couldn't resist and decided to stay even a bit longer. It was a nice trip with splendid late summer weather and I was able to take a lot of images - at least until my battery died.  About cars Since some of my initial projects were crushed by th...

I won’t be an intern anymore. :)

Hi everybody! There is news again from my life. You know, I am a person who never stops doing something. Either I travel almost every weekend (like I did in the States) or I am looking for new challenges all the time. :-) Well, my internship in Munich as a marketing consulting intern is not too bad, but I have finished University…so what I want is a real job and not an internship. (The only internship I would love to do, even after I graduated, is the one I already did with AutoCom). :) So I continued applying for jobs. I restricted the area to Bavaria for the first applications, because I love that part of Germany. I love the Bavarian dialect (it is so cute and sexy the same time). I love their “Brezn” and their white sausages. And here is the news: I will start on the 26th of November as an employee at Novartis. Novartis is a huge German pharmaceutical company. I will work there for the strategic sourcing marketing. So I will be the one choosing agencies, advertising materials and so...
Hi everyone, My name is Sarah Heuser. I’m 23 years old and from a small town near Cologne, Germany. I just finished my master’s in Journalism and Corporate Communications at the University of Applied Sciences in Wuerzburg. Even though I have a bachelor’s degree in Media and American Studies, I have never been to the US before. That’s why I really wanted to do an internship here so I could see what life and work is like. Rebecca and Julian, the other AutoCom interns, picked me up from the airport last Saturday and my new roommates and some of their friends were already waiting for me. We are all living in Royal Oak, but I’m in a different house than the other AutoCom interns. They are currently taking me to work as I am still figuring out details regarding my car. Last week, which was also my first week at work, was the 4 th of July holiday. That’s why I joined Rebecca, Julian and other interns on a trip to New York. We drove over ten hours but it was worth it: the city is impr...
