Who is Wayne???

Now I am more than one month here and time is going by so fast. I wanted to post earlier, but we had some problems with the blog.

My first month was more like a week. Getting a Social Sec. No, a bank account, finding a new place, discovering Detroit (I got totally lost when I moved to my new place, but thank god I have my own navigation system called Nicky&Josh :o)).

My new place downtown. I just have to figure out, how I can get rid of my room mate "Young" :-)

But the hardest thing was to find a car. In particular I had one big problem: Former interns bought their cars at Wayne’s garage. But nobody at AutoCom knew Wayne’s last name. And trying to find Wayne by the search terms “Wayne, garage and car” at google was very ineffective. Asking all former interns was interesting, too. Nicky and I got very different information and so we tried to merge all the different pieces of the puzzle to one big “Wayne’s-Address-Puzzle”. But finally we got to Wayne’s garage. For all future interns I want to post his address in this blog to make sure, that you won’t have the same problem I had.

The end of the story is, that I didn’t buy a car at Wayne’s place. I’ve found another very nice auto dealer. Very new in the business :-) I bought Maggie’s old car and I love it!!! It ??? No, I love her. Purple cars must be female!

My first day driving my new old car was unfortunately a bad day because I had a flat tire. But we used this for a special lesson: How to change a tire! Teacher: Prof. Dr. Green, special subject: Mercury Cougar, 1996. Students: Andrea, Lauren, Janet and Mareike (alias Mary, Mareiky or Marky :-). People here always have a hard time to say my name, especially Andi is very lazy and prefers MarMar). So, the first thing a learned at AutoCom is, besides Timeslips, changing a tire.

Before I got my little purple car, I had my personal driver Miss Degele. She showed me really everything. How to organize all the bureaucratic stuff, where to go on the weekend after 2 am and, much more important for a German girl, “where do I find the best bread” . By the way, thanks to Nicky for everything!

Working at AutoCom was very busy the first week (except for the endless hours restarting my computer and waiting for loading). At my fourth day I already went to the Hella Media Lunch to the Renaissance Center. (By the way, the elevator there is like a roller coaster.)

Andi is benefiting from me working at AutoCom Assoc. because I am sitting next to her and teaching her new German word or even a sentence every day. After my 6 month here, she will be a native spaeker! I Promise!!! As I promise that I will gain weight because of Andi's awesome chips, she shares with me every day!
