The Renaissance Center, nicknamed the “RenCen”, is a group of seven interconnected skyscrapers in downtown Detroit. The central tower is called the “Detroit Marriott at the Renaissance Center”, with 73 floors and a height of 758 ft. The Coach Insignia, an exclusive restaurant at the top of the RenCen was the location of AutoComs SAE World Congress Media Dinner where clients and media interacted. The reason was the SAE World Congress 2007, an exhibition for automotive suppliers at the Cobo Center. The day of the event, Maggi and I went early to check-up the preparation. Before the first guests arrived, we had time to enjoy the wonderful view overlooking Detroit.

It was my first big event with AutoCom and I was very nervous. At 6 p.m. the first guests arrived at the Restaurant and I had no longer time to be concerned. After the set-up I went to my table and we started with the dinner. The food was awesome and I had a nice conversation with my tablemates Dr. Winfried Lehr (MANN+HUMMEL), Claude Mathieu (MANN+HUMMEL), Gerry and Pat Conover (Car-Smart), Jean-Pierre Vasaune (Wallonia) and Jack Harned (AutoCom).

It was very interesting to meet all the clients and the people from the media and I enjoyed the night at the RenCen.

From all reports this was another great AutoCom event. Unfortunately this also was the first SAE/AutoCom media dinner that I've missed. We other client commitments at the Shanghai Auto Show which happened to fall at the same time and I drew the short straw.

About Cologne, Cars and Trees… - Update from the other Side of the Lake

Hi or as we would say in Franconia "Servus", a couple of months have passed since I started my internship at AutoCom and even though I cannot share something about the amazing sites within and around Detroit, I can still give you an update on what is happening.  Philipp has joined us two months ago and we two are currently working on the Social Media Appearance of AutoCom. Even as "digital nomads" we encounter challenges and still have a lot to learn. However, it is great just to create new things from scratch or nearly immediately see a result when sharing a story or creating a post.  But enough of work… About Cologne Larry and the others offered me to go to Cologne to attend a meeting with a client and I - of course - couldn't resist and decided to stay even a bit longer. It was a nice trip with splendid late summer weather and I was able to take a lot of images - at least until my battery died.  About cars Since some of my initial projects were crushed by th...

A New Year, a New Intern

Hi everybody, My name is Véronique and I am happy to say that I will be one of the new interns at AutoCom beginning on March 19. I am a 21 year old student from Germany. The internship is part of my International Business & Management degree that I am working on at the Hanze University in Groningen, Netherlands. I am currently in my third year at Hanze University and the previous semester I studied abroad at a partner university in Macau, China, where I took courses related to my marketing major. I am very excited to start my second stay abroad in a few weeks and I hope that I will gain a lot of professional experience and get to know the area of public relations while working at AutoCom. I also love traveling, so I hope I will be able to see as much of the U.S. as possible, especially since it is my first stay there. It has always been a dream of mine to visit the U.S. and now being able to learn the entire culture and industry by actually living there is a huge bonus. Right now I...

It feels good to be home!

After completing my third year at Northern Michigan University in the Upper Peninsula, it feels good to be back home and in the office again. Larry was very gracious in allowing me to come back to AutoCom. For those of you that do not know me, my name is Tedi Falvo. Last summer I did an internship with AutoCom, and learned a lot about public relations outside of the classroom. Books can only teach you so much- the real learning comes when you go out on your own and put everything you have learned to the test. Last summer was a great experience, and I was thankful to work with such a great staff that was willing to help me succeed. While I was in Marquette, Mich. continuing my studies in public relations, and sociology, I remained in contact with AutoCom. When I had a question regarding an aspect of my studies, I always knew where to turn! It is nice to have wonderful people surrounding and filling you with all of their knowledge. That is one aspect I love about working here-everyone wo...
