Being real American

Sports in the United States are an important part of the country's culture. The most important professional sports leagues in the United States are the Major League Baseball (MLB), the National Basketball Association (NBA), the National Football League (NFL), and the National Hockey League (NHL) with all four being considered the best in the world.

Detroit also has his own teams in all of those leagues:

Baseball: Detroit Tigers
Basketball: Detroit Pistons
Football: Detroit Lions
Hockey: Detroit Red Wings

During our time here in the U.S. we had the opportunity to experience a few of those sports. We saw the Detroit Pistons playing the Dallas Mavericks in the Palace of Auburn Hills. Unfortunately, the Pistons lost but the game was still worth watching, especially because of Dirk Nowitzki. Listed at 7 ft 0 in (2.13 m), Nowitzki is considered one of the greatest power forwards in basketball history (and he is German).

Additionally, we went to the Comerica Park in downtown Detroit to watch a baseball game: Detroit Tigers vs. Philadelphia Phillies. Even if baseball is pretty complicated to understand (even a lot of Americans kind of never completely understand the game), we had a great time and enjoyed the great weather. On top of this, the Tigers won 3 to 1.

About Cologne, Cars and Trees… - Update from the other Side of the Lake

Hi or as we would say in Franconia "Servus", a couple of months have passed since I started my internship at AutoCom and even though I cannot share something about the amazing sites within and around Detroit, I can still give you an update on what is happening. Hi everyone, My name is Sarah Heuser. I’m 23 years old and from a small town near Cologne, Germany. I just finished my master’s in Journalism and Corporate Communications at the University of Applied Sciences in Wuerzburg. Even though I have a bachelor’s degree in Media and American Studies, I have never been to the US before. A New Year, a New Intern

Hi everybody, My name is Véronique and I am happy to say that I will be one of the new interns at AutoCom beginning on March 19. I am a 21 year old student from Germany. The internship is part of my International Business & Management degree that I am working on at the Hanze University in Groningen, Netherlands. I am currently in my third year at Hanze University and the previous semester I studied abroad at a partner university in Macau, China, where I took courses related to my marketing major. I am very excited to start my second stay abroad in a few weeks and I hope that I will gain a lot of professional experience and get to know the area of public relations while working at AutoCom. I also love traveling, so I hope I will be able to see as much of the U.S. as possible, especially since it is my first stay there.
