Colorful Michigan…

Hi everyoneJ
It is almost November - it is getting colder and colder in Michigan, there is already frost during the night and my internship is already halfway done. I cannot believe that the time has passed so fast.
During the last weekends Nicole and I were traveling to Canada and up-North, where we were able to enjoy the colorful trees and the changing vegetation.

At Nicoles’ first weekend we travelled to Toronto with her new car, which did a great job driving through seasons’ first snow storm. Unfortunately, we arrived quite late and were only able to see this great city by night. We did the sky walk, enjoyed the lighting and walked through the streets looking at the impressive architecture. We finished our day with a dinner in a sweet traditional pub, watching hockey match. On Sunday we planned to visit the Niagara Falls on the Canadian site. Thank you Jack for your great advise!  As it was freezing cold, we soon decided, to do the walk on the river front and to discover the sweet town instead of taking the expensive boat ride. Luckily, even though it was quite cold the sun was shining and the sky was blue. So we were able to enjoy a great outlook and were able to take some nice pictures. After we had driven back and had nervously passed the border, we had dinner in a typical American Diner.

On the last weekend we did a great trip up-north with Sarah and her colleagues.  We were a great group and so we had a lot of fun. Unfortunately, we didn’t have luck with the weather this time and it was raining all Saturday long. But we did not mind and kept on visiting the cute Mackinac City and the amazing Tahquamenon Falls. After a typical American Sunday brunch in Saint Ignace we took the ferry to Mackinac Island. This beautiful little island is my favorite place in the U.S. so far. The traditional architecture of the buildings is amazing. Moreover, it is perfect for a relaxing weekend trip, because unlike to the American way of life there are no cars on the island. So you can just enjoy a walk, do a bicycle tour around the island or do horseback riding. As Sarah and I love animals and miss our pets so much, we decided to do an hour of horseback riding. Since Nicole and I don’t have a lot of experience with horses, we were quite afraid. But after a few minutes we learned to trust Buck, Beauty and Angi and enjoyed every minute of the ride. After heating up with hot cider we drove back to Royal Oak.

This weekend is Halloween and we are so excited to dress up, do trick and treating and to go to a creepy party. Nicole will talk about our scary adventure in her next blog-post.

About Cologne, Cars and Trees… - Update from the other Side of the Lake

Hi or as we would say in Franconia "Servus", a couple of months have passed since I started my internship at AutoCom and even though I cannot share something about the amazing sites within and around Detroit, I can still give you an update on what is happening.  Philipp has joined us two months ago and we two are currently working on the Social Media Appearance of AutoCom. Even as "digital nomads" we encounter challenges and still have a lot to learn. However, it is great just to create new things from scratch or nearly immediately see a result when sharing a story or creating a post.  But enough of work… About Cologne Larry and the others offered me to go to Cologne to attend a meeting with a client and I - of course - couldn't resist and decided to stay even a bit longer. It was a nice trip with splendid late summer weather and I was able to take a lot of images - at least until my battery died.  About cars Since some of my initial projects were crushed by th...

Jack inducted into PRSA Detroit Chapter Hall of Fame!

Hi everyone! Last night we went to the PRSA Detroit Chapter’s annual meeting. During the meeting was a ceremony for Jack Harned’s induction into the Hall of Fame. The meeting was downtown at the beautiful DTE Energy building. We had a great time networking with fellow colleagues in the PR industry and catching up with previous AutoCom employees. After dinner, Marty gave a great introduction to Jack. Jack’s speech was absolutely wonderful! Every one loved it! He talked about some of his past experiences from his hometown newspaper to working with GM and NASA. It seemed that everyone loved hearing his stories as much as we do at our Friday lunches! It’s great to know that Jack’s peers recognize all of his hard work. He has accomplished and seen so much, he truly deserves this award. From all of us at AutoCom: Congrats, Jack! We are all so proud of you! Leave some comments for Jack and keep an eye out for pictures, coming soon, at AutoCom's Facebook page! Until next time, Julia, Kerry...

It feels good to be home!

After completing my third year at Northern Michigan University in the Upper Peninsula, it feels good to be back home and in the office again. Larry was very gracious in allowing me to come back to AutoCom. For those of you that do not know me, my name is Tedi Falvo. Last summer I did an internship with AutoCom, and learned a lot about public relations outside of the classroom. Books can only teach you so much- the real learning comes when you go out on your own and put everything you have learned to the test. Last summer was a great experience, and I was thankful to work with such a great staff that was willing to help me succeed. While I was in Marquette, Mich. continuing my studies in public relations, and sociology, I remained in contact with AutoCom. When I had a question regarding an aspect of my studies, I always knew where to turn! It is nice to have wonderful people surrounding and filling you with all of their knowledge. That is one aspect I love about working here-everyone wo...
