In love with the windy city

Hello everybody!

My time in the States is passing so fast. I cannot believe that my sixth week has already started. During the last month I have managed to get used to the American traffic and got into my daily routine. I finally moved into another house, where I really enjoy living. My roommates are really nice and I love spending my free-time with them.

In my last blog I promised to tell you about my first trip to Chicago: I went there with my friends Sanja and Lisa, who unfortunately have already leftL. We had great weather and spent the Saturday walking through the city and doing sightseeing and some shopping. I was so impressed by its architecture as well as by its combination of skyscrapers and green parks. On Sunday we discovered the promenade on the Michigan Lake and its harbor.  Later on we took a walk from the “Shedd Aquarium” to the “Navy Pier”, which was amazing, because you were able to see the whole Chicago- Skyline and the seaside with its deep blue water bear alikeness to a Mediterranean one.  Finally we finished our trip with a great burger at 5guys!

After I have fallen in love with this impressive city, I was happy to join my German friend Sarah and her roommate Thomas on visiting the windy city again. The whole last week I was looking forward seeing her again and to spend the weekend together. After they had picked me up on Saturday morning, we spent 5 hours chatting in the car and getting to Chicago.  After we had managed to find our hostel and the tube station we went to Downtown and visited the navy pier.  Subsequent we had relaxed, we walked back to the city center and enjoyed the view from a rooftop-bar.

As it was the Labor Day-weekend, the Jazz-festival of Chicago took place. So we had a chance to finish our busy day with a nice concert at the Millennium –Park. On Sunday we went up on the Willis-Tower, which is the second largest building in the world and offers a great view over the Chicago-area. Unfortunately it was quite busy, because of the Labor Day-weekend and we had to wait over three hours, but nevertheless we were able to enjoy this incredible building. Afterwards we had one of the hotdogs Chicago is famous for and went to the “Chicago outlet mall”, where you can purchase many bargains from different popular brands. Due to my low budget I could not buy a lot of things, but I am sure I will come back as soon as I have finished my degree! :)

About Cologne, Cars and Trees… - Update from the other Side of the Lake

Hi or as we would say in Franconia "Servus", a couple of months have passed since I started my internship at AutoCom and even though I cannot share something about the amazing sites within and around Detroit, I can still give you an update on what is happening.  Philipp has joined us two months ago and we two are currently working on the Social Media Appearance of AutoCom. Even as "digital nomads" we encounter challenges and still have a lot to learn. However, it is great just to create new things from scratch or nearly immediately see a result when sharing a story or creating a post.  But enough of work… About Cologne Larry and the others offered me to go to Cologne to attend a meeting with a client and I - of course - couldn't resist and decided to stay even a bit longer. It was a nice trip with splendid late summer weather and I was able to take a lot of images - at least until my battery died.  About cars Since some of my initial projects were crushed by th...
Hi everyone, My name is Sarah Heuser. I’m 23 years old and from a small town near Cologne, Germany. I just finished my master’s in Journalism and Corporate Communications at the University of Applied Sciences in Wuerzburg. Even though I have a bachelor’s degree in Media and American Studies, I have never been to the US before. That’s why I really wanted to do an internship here so I could see what life and work is like. Rebecca and Julian, the other AutoCom interns, picked me up from the airport last Saturday and my new roommates and some of their friends were already waiting for me. We are all living in Royal Oak, but I’m in a different house than the other AutoCom interns. They are currently taking me to work as I am still figuring out details regarding my car. Last week, which was also my first week at work, was the 4 th of July holiday. That’s why I joined Rebecca, Julian and other interns on a trip to New York. We drove over ten hours but it was worth it: the city is impr...

A New Year, a New Intern

Hi everybody, My name is Véronique and I am happy to say that I will be one of the new interns at AutoCom beginning on March 19. I am a 21 year old student from Germany. The internship is part of my International Business & Management degree that I am working on at the Hanze University in Groningen, Netherlands. I am currently in my third year at Hanze University and the previous semester I studied abroad at a partner university in Macau, China, where I took courses related to my marketing major. I am very excited to start my second stay abroad in a few weeks and I hope that I will gain a lot of professional experience and get to know the area of public relations while working at AutoCom. I also love traveling, so I hope I will be able to see as much of the U.S. as possible, especially since it is my first stay there. It has always been a dream of mine to visit the U.S. and now being able to learn the entire culture and industry by actually living there is a huge bonus. Right now I...
