Internship Complete – Time For Traveling

The last six days are over, my vacation begins. The last days were a further proof for it, time is flying by faster and faster. For my last day, Merle brought tasty classic Doughnuts to the office, which weren’t existing anymore shortly after lunch. Yummy :) Thanks again!!

Famous Doughnuts

I will definitely miss the AutoCom team, my work in the office and even the fact driving to Bloomfield through Woodward Ave every morning. It was a pleasure to meet you and to work with all of you together. Even on busy days, we had a great time and fun! Fortunately we didn’t have say good bye yet, because we will meet again for a final dinner in May, before I go back to Germany.

One of my personal goals was to improve my English skills in meetings, while writing e-mails, during conference calls or just in short chats. But I was also trying to catch up special sentences, which were not usual or common for me or just sounded funny. Starting from “opening cans of worms” up to “nailing topics down” or “killing two birds with one stone”, you can find some of my favorite empty phrases and hilarious sentences below:

“They’re marching to their own drum.”; “He is running around with his hair on fire.”; “How are you?... I am living the dream!”; “Happy Friday”; “That’s kind of loosy goosy.”; “Then the little doggy is chasing his own tail!”; “Don’t be like stiff and staffy”; “That is completely dodo!”; “Google is wrong!”

As I took my vacation in the end of my internship, now I am able to travel a couple of days longer. I will start my little road trip in Toronto, plan to see the Niagara Falls and to visit Buffalo, Washington, Philadelphia, New York and Boston. Couchsurfing the country, I am looking forward to this next period in the U.S., to meet up again with extraordinary people who show me their way of life.

Bye bye for the moment – Maybe I will update with a final blog post, when I am back from my trip.

From now on our new intern Nikolas will update you about his experiences.

About Cologne, Cars and Trees… - Update from the other Side of the Lake

Hi or as we would say in Franconia "Servus", a couple of months have passed since I started my internship at AutoCom and even though I cannot share something about the amazing sites within and around Detroit, I can still give you an update on what is happening.  Philipp has joined us two months ago and we two are currently working on the Social Media Appearance of AutoCom. Even as "digital nomads" we encounter challenges and still have a lot to learn. However, it is great just to create new things from scratch or nearly immediately see a result when sharing a story or creating a post.  But enough of work… About Cologne Larry and the others offered me to go to Cologne to attend a meeting with a client and I - of course - couldn't resist and decided to stay even a bit longer. It was a nice trip with splendid late summer weather and I was able to take a lot of images - at least until my battery died.  About cars Since some of my initial projects were crushed by th...

Jack inducted into PRSA Detroit Chapter Hall of Fame!

Hi everyone! Last night we went to the PRSA Detroit Chapter’s annual meeting. During the meeting was a ceremony for Jack Harned’s induction into the Hall of Fame. The meeting was downtown at the beautiful DTE Energy building. We had a great time networking with fellow colleagues in the PR industry and catching up with previous AutoCom employees. After dinner, Marty gave a great introduction to Jack. Jack’s speech was absolutely wonderful! Every one loved it! He talked about some of his past experiences from his hometown newspaper to working with GM and NASA. It seemed that everyone loved hearing his stories as much as we do at our Friday lunches! It’s great to know that Jack’s peers recognize all of his hard work. He has accomplished and seen so much, he truly deserves this award. From all of us at AutoCom: Congrats, Jack! We are all so proud of you! Leave some comments for Jack and keep an eye out for pictures, coming soon, at AutoCom's Facebook page! Until next time, Julia, Kerry...

It feels good to be home!

After completing my third year at Northern Michigan University in the Upper Peninsula, it feels good to be back home and in the office again. Larry was very gracious in allowing me to come back to AutoCom. For those of you that do not know me, my name is Tedi Falvo. Last summer I did an internship with AutoCom, and learned a lot about public relations outside of the classroom. Books can only teach you so much- the real learning comes when you go out on your own and put everything you have learned to the test. Last summer was a great experience, and I was thankful to work with such a great staff that was willing to help me succeed. While I was in Marquette, Mich. continuing my studies in public relations, and sociology, I remained in contact with AutoCom. When I had a question regarding an aspect of my studies, I always knew where to turn! It is nice to have wonderful people surrounding and filling you with all of their knowledge. That is one aspect I love about working here-everyone wo...
