Time after time...

If we take care of the moments, the years will take care of themselves
Maria Edgeworth (1767 - 1849)
Dear All,

Time flies faster and faster... And that is not only a figure of speech. Chile’s recent earthquake shortened the Earth’s day by 1.26 milliseconds, according to a NASA scientist's computer model. Time is of course measured, but it is also your perception. In my opinion, our life consists of memories and experiences we gather throughout our existence. One of these valuable memories I am making is my internship in the U.S.

It is my third month into my internship and every day brings something new. Just the other day I participated in a telephone conference with our client Hella Lighting. We had five people on the line discussing the efficiency of HID technology: a journalist in San Diego, CA, the marketing manager of Hella Lighting in Plymouth, MI, the vice president of marketing of Hella Lighting in Lippstadt, Germany, Marty Habalewsky, a vice president of AutoCom, and myself in Bloomfield Hills, MI. It’s amazing how technology can make your time more efficient. During my internship, I have gotten to know many interesting people, experience the American business style and enrich my understanding of the PR field. Besides my professional experience, I have had my car towed out of the snow and had my right light damaged in a minor accident that involves the very confusing “Michigan left turn”.

Coming back to time…It is important to accomplish your goals in the time you have. If you imagine your life like a recipe, each ingredient should be well balanced. Thanks to AutoCom, my life is more harmonized in terms of a valuable professional and personal enrichment.

Don’t hesitate to apply for an internship with AutoCom to create your own experience – and remember that your greatest resource is time you have.

I will keep in touch!

Alina

Yes, the Michigan left turns are confusing... but maybe you didn't learn about snow in Brazil?

About Cologne, Cars and Trees… - Update from the other Side of the Lake

Hi or as we would say in Franconia "Servus", a couple of months have passed since I started my internship at AutoCom and even though I cannot share something about the amazing sites within and around Detroit, I can still give you an update on what is happening.  Philipp has joined us two months ago and we two are currently working on the Social Media Appearance of AutoCom. Even as "digital nomads" we encounter challenges and still have a lot to learn. However, it is great just to create new things from scratch or nearly immediately see a result when sharing a story or creating a post.  But enough of work… About Cologne Larry and the others offered me to go to Cologne to attend a meeting with a client and I - of course - couldn't resist and decided to stay even a bit longer. It was a nice trip with splendid late summer weather and I was able to take a lot of images - at least until my battery died.  About cars Since some of my initial projects were crushed by th...

It feels good to be home!

After completing my third year at Northern Michigan University in the Upper Peninsula, it feels good to be back home and in the office again. Larry was very gracious in allowing me to come back to AutoCom. For those of you that do not know me, my name is Tedi Falvo. Last summer I did an internship with AutoCom, and learned a lot about public relations outside of the classroom. Books can only teach you so much- the real learning comes when you go out on your own and put everything you have learned to the test. Last summer was a great experience, and I was thankful to work with such a great staff that was willing to help me succeed. While I was in Marquette, Mich. continuing my studies in public relations, and sociology, I remained in contact with AutoCom. When I had a question regarding an aspect of my studies, I always knew where to turn! It is nice to have wonderful people surrounding and filling you with all of their knowledge. That is one aspect I love about working here-everyone wo...

Jack inducted into PRSA Detroit Chapter Hall of Fame!

Hi everyone! Last night we went to the PRSA Detroit Chapter’s annual meeting. During the meeting was a ceremony for Jack Harned’s induction into the Hall of Fame. The meeting was downtown at the beautiful DTE Energy building. We had a great time networking with fellow colleagues in the PR industry and catching up with previous AutoCom employees. After dinner, Marty gave a great introduction to Jack. Jack’s speech was absolutely wonderful! Every one loved it! He talked about some of his past experiences from his hometown newspaper to working with GM and NASA. It seemed that everyone loved hearing his stories as much as we do at our Friday lunches! It’s great to know that Jack’s peers recognize all of his hard work. He has accomplished and seen so much, he truly deserves this award. From all of us at AutoCom: Congrats, Jack! We are all so proud of you! Leave some comments for Jack and keep an eye out for pictures, coming soon, at AutoCom's Facebook page! Until next time, Julia, Kerry...
