Hi everyone,
My name is Sarah Heuser. I’m 23 years old and from a small town near Cologne, Germany. I just finished my master’s in Journalism and Corporate Communications at the University of Applied Sciences in Wuerzburg. Even though I have a bachelor’s degree in Media and American Studies, I have never been to the US before. That’s why I really wanted to do an internship here so I could see what life and work is like.
Rebecca and Julian, the other AutoCom interns, picked me up from the airport last Saturday and my new roommates and some of their friends were already waiting for me. We are all living in Royal Oak, but I’m in a different house than the other AutoCom interns. They are currently taking me to work as I am still figuring out details regarding my car.
Last week, which was also my first week at work, was the 4th of July holiday. That’s why I joined Rebecca, Julian and other interns on a trip to New York. We drove over ten hours but it was worth it: the city is impressive and I loved it. I want to explore as much as I can during my stay here: Detroit, the Great Lakes, but also Chicago, Toronto and Niagara Falls.
At the same time I want to learn as much as possible at AutoCom: how to write press releases, how to interact with clients and how to work in an American company in general. Having only worked in larger German companies before, doing an internship in a small American business will probably be completely different.
I am looking forward to three months of learning, working, travelling and making new friends.

About Cologne, Cars and Trees… - Update from the other Side of the Lake

 Hi or as we would say in Franconia "Servus", a couple of months have passed since I started my internship at AutoCom and even though I cannot share something about the amazing sites within and around Detroit, I can still give you an update on what is happening.  Philipp has joined us two months ago and we two are currently working on the Social Media Appearance of AutoCom. Even as "digital nomads" we encounter challenges and still have a lot to learn. However, it is great just to create new things from scratch or nearly immediately see a result when sharing a story or creating a post.  But enough of work… About Cologne Larry and the others offered me to go to Cologne to attend a meeting with a client and I - of course - couldn't resist and decided to stay even a bit longer. Jack inducted into PRSA Detroit Chapter Hall of Fame!

Hi everyone! Last night we went to the PRSA Detroit Chapter’s annual meeting. During the meeting was a ceremony for Jack Harned’s induction into the Hall of Fame. The meeting was downtown at the beautiful DTE Energy building. We had a great time networking with fellow colleagues in the PR industry and catching up with previous AutoCom employees. After dinner, Marty gave a great introduction to Jack. Jack’s speech was absolutely wonderful! Every one loved it! He talked about some of his past experiences from his hometown newspaper to working with GM and NASA. It seemed that everyone loved hearing his stories as much as we do at our Friday lunches! It’s great to know that Jack’s peers recognize all of his hard work. He has accomplished and seen so much, he truly deserves this award. From all of us at AutoCom: Congrats, Jack! It feels good to be home!

After completing my third year at Northern Michigan University in the Upper Peninsula, it feels good to be back home and in the office again. Larry was very gracious in allowing me to come back to AutoCom. For those of you that do not know me, my name is Tedi Falvo. Last summer I did an internship with AutoCom, and learned a lot about public relations outside of the classroom. Books can only teach you so much- the real learning comes when you go out on your own and put everything you have learned to the test. Last summer was a great experience, and I was thankful to work with such a great staff that was willing to help me succeed. While I was in Marquette, Mich. continuing my studies in public relations, and sociology, I remained in contact with AutoCom.
