Trick or Treat ?

Hi everybody, it’s Nicole again.

As Sophia promised I will tell you about Halloween in Detroit. First of all, Americans are crazy about everything like skulls, monsters and pumpkins. In every backyard was at least one skeleton and we have seen a big monster hanging around in our neighbors’ garden. And not to forget all those lights!

To keep this tradition going, my roommates and me decorated our house as well and bought a lot of snacks, since we wanted to invite our friends for a Halloween party. Of course a costume was required, but Sophia and I were pretty late for costumes, so we tried one day before Halloween to get in a store and buy some. Well yeah, this surprisingly did not work out; there were just too many people!
So we tried to order online and kept our fingers crossed. :)  Lucky us, they came just in time for the party. Just in case you don’t know: You do not have to look scary at all. In my opinion, if there wasn’t any scary decoration, it could have been carnival too.  Furthermore I wanted to make a pumpkin soup, since my two roommates never tried one. They were so impressed by this simple pumpkin soup that we will make the soup again in the next days.
Since in Germany trick or treating is not that famous, I was quite surprised how many little princesses and gorgeous little ghosts live in my neighborhood and stopped by for some chocolate and lollipops. Of course we were well prepared and had a huge amount of candy in a bowl right beside the door.  Even now after the party we have so much left, that all the little trick or treaters could come for a second round.
The party itself was really fun. I met so many nice people and the costumes were simply amazing. Somebody came as a taco and even brought some! We had a lot of games going on and really nice music, so nobody got bored. On the next day Sophia came over to help clean up, which was so nice of her! With her help we were finished quite early and so we did some shopping. We spent the whole day at the Great Lakes Crossing Outlet, which happens to be just 30 minutes away from us.
Sophia and I are going to the gym four times a week. We even have a workout plan and we are still strictly working on it. So the day after our shopping trip we got up at 5 am to do our workout before work. This was really hard, but we are more used to it now, so it works out pretty good.

I have to tell you about my first time at a basketball game. It was Detroit Pistons against Utah Jazz and especially at the end it was really exciting, but I can proudly tell you that we won! Afterwards, we were allowed to go on the court and shoot some hoops ourselves but neither one of us made it. Well, nice experience anyways.

I can’t wait for the next weekend. Sophia, some friends and I want to go to a football game and most importantly: it’s Sophia birthday! :) Of course we will do our best to make this day unforgettable for her, but it is up to her to tell you about that in our next blog post.
So don’t miss it and we’ll see you soon  :)

Tara, Earl of Drunwitch

The common stereotypes against British people are: - they always drink tea & eat Fish&Chips - on vacations they always get sunburned, because the sun never shines in England - their humor is dry and sometimes a little bit strange. After a few weeks with our intern Graham from Swansea I don't agree with any of these stereotypes. I now believe that British people always drink energy drinks with strange pictures on it, they can never get sunburned because they are always wearing nice "whistles" and big American hats and their humor is everything but strange... To be honest... German humor, which means Nicky's and my humor ("The funny German girls" ©) is nearly the same...! To score some brownie points at the beginning of his time at AutoCom he brought the new Aquada to the office. And who wants David Hasselhoff and K.I.T.T. when you can have the Earl of Drunwitch and the Aquada? A nice sport car and you only have to push one button and it will be bo...

Time to say Goodbye

Only two days left until Don Haberek will leave the AutoCom Team. He was our COO, interns supervisor and the best cake cutter ever! He always had time for the intern's issues and was listening very patiently and carefully to us. Even if he had to repeat his advice a billion times for the foreign interns! But he wasn't only a great interns supervisor. He also gave everbody the oppotunity to gain some weight, when he was cutting perfectly our (nearly weekly ;-)) cake. We really hope, we will find somebody who has the same great technic to cut a cake: 1) Be very gentle to the cake! 2) Use a very sharpe-edged knife, especially our chocolate junky Mareike doesn't want to waste a bit! 3) Be sure that you cut enough pieces. But we think we allready have a new cake cutter. After a long long time Don finally found his twin brother. And accidentally he is working for AutoCom aswell. :-) Who is dressing like Don, must have the same skills! Thanks for everything, we wi ll miss having...

I won’t be an intern anymore. :)

Hi everybody! There is news again from my life. You know, I am a person who never stops doing something. Either I travel almost every weekend (like I did in the States) or I am looking for new challenges all the time. :-) Well, my internship in Munich as a marketing consulting intern is not too bad, but I have finished University…so what I want is a real job and not an internship. (The only internship I would love to do, even after I graduated, is the one I already did with AutoCom). :) So I continued applying for jobs. I restricted the area to Bavaria for the first applications, because I love that part of Germany. I love the Bavarian dialect (it is so cute and sexy the same time). I love their “Brezn” and their white sausages. And here is the news: I will start on the 26th of November as an employee at Novartis. Novartis is a huge German pharmaceutical company. I will work there for the strategic sourcing marketing. So I will be the one choosing agencies, advertising materials and so...
