Snow, Snow And Snow Again

Our road
Since last Sunday morning it started snowing. The world seemed to be alright because snow over here isn’t a phenomenon. So everybody seemed to be relaxed until the storm was getting worse and I heard my housemate calling my name in the evening for help. When I stepped out very late in the evening I couldn’t believe what happened. Everything was looking different and was fully covered with tons of snow.

Nearly 17 inches ~ about 43 centimeters of snow were the result of the storm and it was still going.

Our driveway
The reason my housemate was calling me for help was his car… he couldn’t move in any direction because the heavy storm pushed all the snow underneath his car which was kind of jacked up. After shoveling his sunken car, we were all anxious about the next day and didn’t know how we should get to work.

Heavy storm
Then I remembered all guys asking me in the beginning of my internship: “In summer time Michigan is beautiful. Why are you coming over here in winter times?” :D

Monday morning good news arrived on my phone – one day off because of snow. And in fact, when I walked with one of my housemates to get a coffee in the afternoon, we realized that we wouldn’t even had a chance to get onto the main road. Next to our driveway our road was still covered with snow and all over cars which were getting stuck and tried to get away with help from all neighbors. By the way it was very nice and a bit relaxing to see and to know, that there are a lot of people who would help if I get stuck on Tuesday. One more time I was negotiating a prejudice when I saw all helpful people on roads.

Approx. 43 cm snow over night
Fortunately we finally heard a big snow-truck driving through our road in the evening on Monday. It was a little bit like Christmas waiting for Santa Claus, when we jumped up to see who is going to help us and free us from the snow.

Next morning, I drove carefully through our driveway and tried to turn right as usual but suddenly I was stuck :D Of course, when I get stuck there is nobody on the streets – everything empty. But fortunately I was close to our house, so I went back to get our snow shovel. After 10 minutes digging out my car the mission was complete and with that my early-morning exercise. ;)

Little flags show you the end of the road
All in all the most positive fact is over here: When it is winter time, you have winter. Better than wet and muddy winter at home where we might have snow with a little bit of luck for a couple of days. The only thing missing is huge mountains where you could enjoy your time with snowboarding. I only heard about a couple of hills so far.

Let’s see what will happen in the next weeks! You’ll read about it!

About Cologne, Cars and Trees… - Update from the other Side of the Lake

Hi or as we would say in Franconia "Servus", a couple of months have passed since I started my internship at AutoCom and even though I cannot share something about the amazing sites within and around Detroit, I can still give you an update on what is happening.  Philipp has joined us two months ago and we two are currently working on the Social Media Appearance of AutoCom. Even as "digital nomads" we encounter challenges and still have a lot to learn. However, it is great just to create new things from scratch or nearly immediately see a result when sharing a story or creating a post.  But enough of work… About Cologne Larry and the others offered me to go to Cologne to attend a meeting with a client and I - of course - couldn't resist and decided to stay even a bit longer. It was a nice trip with splendid late summer weather and I was able to take a lot of images - at least until my battery died.  About cars Since some of my initial projects were crushed by th...

A New Year, a New Intern

Hi everybody, My name is Véronique and I am happy to say that I will be one of the new interns at AutoCom beginning on March 19. I am a 21 year old student from Germany. The internship is part of my International Business & Management degree that I am working on at the Hanze University in Groningen, Netherlands. I am currently in my third year at Hanze University and the previous semester I studied abroad at a partner university in Macau, China, where I took courses related to my marketing major. I am very excited to start my second stay abroad in a few weeks and I hope that I will gain a lot of professional experience and get to know the area of public relations while working at AutoCom. I also love traveling, so I hope I will be able to see as much of the U.S. as possible, especially since it is my first stay there. It has always been a dream of mine to visit the U.S. and now being able to learn the entire culture and industry by actually living there is a huge bonus. Right now I...

It feels good to be home!

After completing my third year at Northern Michigan University in the Upper Peninsula, it feels good to be back home and in the office again. Larry was very gracious in allowing me to come back to AutoCom. For those of you that do not know me, my name is Tedi Falvo. Last summer I did an internship with AutoCom, and learned a lot about public relations outside of the classroom. Books can only teach you so much- the real learning comes when you go out on your own and put everything you have learned to the test. Last summer was a great experience, and I was thankful to work with such a great staff that was willing to help me succeed. While I was in Marquette, Mich. continuing my studies in public relations, and sociology, I remained in contact with AutoCom. When I had a question regarding an aspect of my studies, I always knew where to turn! It is nice to have wonderful people surrounding and filling you with all of their knowledge. That is one aspect I love about working here-everyone wo...
