Is even more snow possible?? Yes, in Canada!!!

Having had the chance to experience a lot of snow in Detroit, and even more up north in Indian River, it was now time to check out the amount of snow even further north in another country-  Canada!!!

Our destination was the township of Muskoka Lakes in the Canadian province of Ontario where we wanted to meet up with some friends. One of our friends has a cottage up there right next to Lake Muskoka in the city of Port Carling. Muskoka Township with over 1,600 lakes is known for being a popular tourist destination with lots of cottages. A lot of people love to come here in the summer time as well as in  in the winter, just as we did.

Without traffic and snow it usually takes about 6 hours to get there from Royal Oak, but since it was really snowy we didn’t arrive in Port Carling before midnight, having left at 4:00 pm. After we arrived, a late night dinner in front of the fire in the very pretty and warm cottage was a nice ending to the day.

Saturday, after a wonderful breakfast or maybe it’s better to say brunch, we enjoyed a long day outside in the wonderful nature of Ontario. We tried cross country skiing and enjoyed the vast diversity of nature around the cabin and lake. We also found skiing on snow covered roads was as much fun as skiing in the woods and across the lake.

After coming back from a long day outside, it was time to prepare our dinner and use the chance to get a little bit warmer inside the cabin. After having warmed up we went outside again and started shoveling a fire pit in the middle of the snow, where after finishing we sat and drank hot beverages at night. It was a nice opportunity to bring to an end what turned out to be an amazing day.

After waking up on Sunday, even before having breakfast, we put the snowshoes on and started a little hike through the woods. Seeing the untouched snow everywhere and making the first footprints in it was more than wonderful.  Coming back to the cottage after, it was time to have lunch and enjoy the last opportunity to sit together before it was time to head back to the USA.

Looking back, this weekend past by really quickly, but it was an awesome time with a lot of unforgettable experiences and of course soooooooo much snow.

About Cologne, Cars and Trees… - Update from the other Side of the Lake

Hi or as we would say in Franconia "Servus", a couple of months have passed since I started my internship at AutoCom and even though I cannot share something about the amazing sites within and around Detroit, I can still give you an update on what is happening.  Philipp has joined us two months ago and we two are currently working on the Social Media Appearance of AutoCom. Even as "digital nomads" we encounter challenges and still have a lot to learn. However, it is great just to create new things from scratch or nearly immediately see a result when sharing a story or creating a post.  But enough of work… About Cologne Larry and the others offered me to go to Cologne to attend a meeting with a client and I - of course - couldn't resist and decided to stay even a bit longer. It was a nice trip with splendid late summer weather and I was able to take a lot of images - at least until my battery died.  About cars Since some of my initial projects were crushed by th...

I won’t be an intern anymore. :)

Hi everybody! There is news again from my life. You know, I am a person who never stops doing something. Either I travel almost every weekend (like I did in the States) or I am looking for new challenges all the time. :-) Well, my internship in Munich as a marketing consulting intern is not too bad, but I have finished University…so what I want is a real job and not an internship. (The only internship I would love to do, even after I graduated, is the one I already did with AutoCom). :) So I continued applying for jobs. I restricted the area to Bavaria for the first applications, because I love that part of Germany. I love the Bavarian dialect (it is so cute and sexy the same time). I love their “Brezn” and their white sausages. And here is the news: I will start on the 26th of November as an employee at Novartis. Novartis is a huge German pharmaceutical company. I will work there for the strategic sourcing marketing. So I will be the one choosing agencies, advertising materials and so...
Hi everyone, My name is Sarah Heuser. I’m 23 years old and from a small town near Cologne, Germany. I just finished my master’s in Journalism and Corporate Communications at the University of Applied Sciences in Wuerzburg. Even though I have a bachelor’s degree in Media and American Studies, I have never been to the US before. That’s why I really wanted to do an internship here so I could see what life and work is like. Rebecca and Julian, the other AutoCom interns, picked me up from the airport last Saturday and my new roommates and some of their friends were already waiting for me. We are all living in Royal Oak, but I’m in a different house than the other AutoCom interns. They are currently taking me to work as I am still figuring out details regarding my car. Last week, which was also my first week at work, was the 4 th of July holiday. That’s why I joined Rebecca, Julian and other interns on a trip to New York. We drove over ten hours but it was worth it: the city is impr...
