COMFORTABLE AND CONFIDENT

My first two weeks as an AutoCom intern have gone well. But as I embrace my third week with more comfort and confidence I am now excited to spread my wings and fly. I feel with the nerves gone I can finally show off my fun and creative side. I believe fear can be what holds someone back from greatness. So while I’m an intern at AutoCom I am going to show off my personality and not be some dull employee that doesn’t want to move up in the world. I’m going to bring fresh and hopefully innovative ideas while dealing with our clients in the areas of social media and video. I plan on bringing smiles to the faces of the people I work with, and I hope that by the end of my internship I can call it a success!

On another note, I realize that I am one of two interns currently working at AutoCom Associates. And considering Merle is from Germany, I feel obligated to make sure her American experience in Michigan is off the chain. A week ago she experienced an American St. Patrick’s Day, and she has the 4th of July to look forward to. So, I guess you could say I am excited for her.

Here is a picture of Merle hard at work after eating lunch. I am curious though, do all Germans eat lunch around 1:30pm instead of noon or is it just the German girls that work at AutoCom? Also, I’m getting tired of eating a sandwich for lunch everyday. Does anyone have a recommendation on what to pack for lunch?

About Cologne, Cars and Trees… - Update from the other Side of the Lake

Hi or as we would say in Franconia "Servus", a couple of months have passed since I started my internship at AutoCom and even though I cannot share something about the amazing sites within and around Detroit, I can still give you an update on what is happening.  Philipp has joined us two months ago and we two are currently working on the Social Media Appearance of AutoCom. Even as "digital nomads" we encounter challenges and still have a lot to learn. However, it is great just to create new things from scratch or nearly immediately see a result when sharing a story or creating a post.  But enough of work… About Cologne Larry and the others offered me to go to Cologne to attend a meeting with a client and I - of course - couldn't resist and decided to stay even a bit longer. It was a nice trip with splendid late summer weather and I was able to take a lot of images - at least until my battery died.  About cars Since some of my initial projects were crushed by th...

I won’t be an intern anymore. :)

Hi everybody! There is news again from my life. You know, I am a person who never stops doing something. Either I travel almost every weekend (like I did in the States) or I am looking for new challenges all the time. :-) Well, my internship in Munich as a marketing consulting intern is not too bad, but I have finished University…so what I want is a real job and not an internship. (The only internship I would love to do, even after I graduated, is the one I already did with AutoCom). :) So I continued applying for jobs. I restricted the area to Bavaria for the first applications, because I love that part of Germany. I love the Bavarian dialect (it is so cute and sexy the same time). I love their “Brezn” and their white sausages. And here is the news: I will start on the 26th of November as an employee at Novartis. Novartis is a huge German pharmaceutical company. I will work there for the strategic sourcing marketing. So I will be the one choosing agencies, advertising materials and so...
Hi everyone, My name is Sarah Heuser. I’m 23 years old and from a small town near Cologne, Germany. I just finished my master’s in Journalism and Corporate Communications at the University of Applied Sciences in Wuerzburg. Even though I have a bachelor’s degree in Media and American Studies, I have never been to the US before. That’s why I really wanted to do an internship here so I could see what life and work is like. Rebecca and Julian, the other AutoCom interns, picked me up from the airport last Saturday and my new roommates and some of their friends were already waiting for me. We are all living in Royal Oak, but I’m in a different house than the other AutoCom interns. They are currently taking me to work as I am still figuring out details regarding my car. Last week, which was also my first week at work, was the 4 th of July holiday. That’s why I joined Rebecca, Julian and other interns on a trip to New York. We drove over ten hours but it was worth it: the city is impr...
