Christina started her internship at AutoCom in July 2007, my first day was October 1, 2007 and now it’s the end of February 2008. I guess former interns can confirm that time is running so fast in Michigan. We celebrated Halloween in our office and went to a Halloween party, ate turkey on Thanksgiving and opened Xmas presents on the 25th of December. New Years Eve is over and so are the resolutions for 2008. We were in love on Valentines Day and now we are waiting for Easter…
It’s time for some highlights of the last two months.
Silke’s highlight in December?
The visit of my family! I rented a van for seven people visiting me.
First we spent some time in Michigan. We visited the Henry Ford museum, where we stayed almost the whole day. We were very impressed by all the old cars, carriages and trains. On the same day we viewed Edsel and Eleanor Ford’s house and found out that they had a souvenir from Germany in their library.
On December 26, we drove towards Washington D.C. Our first stop was Cleveland where we visited the Rock’n’Roll Hall of Fame.
On the next day we toured Washington. My sister provided us with some information about the White House, the Lincoln Memorial and the Washington Monument.
Next stop was Lancaster: We saw farmland and Amish people. Lancaster differs from the cities we visited before but it was very interesting.
We drove from Lancaster to Philadelphia. Highlights here were the Liberty Bell and the Betsy Ross house, where the first American flag was sewed with 13 stars in a circle.
Next stop was the city that doesn’t sleep: NEW YORK.
We spent an amazing four days in New York. The first day was New Years Eve. We had a great view over NY on top of the General Electric building at the Rockefeller Center. From there we saw the city by daylight, during the sunset and in the dark. We went to Time Square which was so crowded because of the New Years party. The streets were full of people. I’ve never seen so many people on the streets.
On the next day we took a walk in the Central Park, went to Ground Zero, and drove with a ferry to see the Statue of Liberty.
The other day was soooo cold that we could not stand to be outside. We decided to visit Madame Tussauds wax figure cabinet. We met Albert Einstein, George Bush, Usher, Brad Pitt and much more.
Before we drove to Toronto, we visited Niagara Falls to see the famous water falls and it was unbelievable. It looked so pretty during the winter with all the snow in the background. We took a walk along the falls and had a great afternoon in Niagara Falls. We went back to Michigan on January 6.
