Yet Another German

Hello everybody,

After some hesitation in writing this I finally fought myself to do it. I am yet another German here at AutoCom. My name is Manuel and I am a student of International Politics and History at Jacobs University Bremen in northern Germany. I will be joining AutoCom for the next two months. Prior to this internship, which is part of my studies in Bremen I have been active in the Rotaract Club, the Youth Organisation of Rotary International, as well as Debating and Model United Nations conferences. This is my second day at AutoCom and from what I can tell and what I experienced u p until now I am very much looking forward for working here in Bloomfield Hills.
The first few days in Detroit area have been very much relaxed and after acclimating here and finishing all the necessary paperwork I am all set now. Mareike and Nicky welcomed me with some nice dinner at a Thai place and have been of great help in showing me where to get my cell phone contract, social security number and have guided me through the paper-jungle. Everybody here is very nice and my first working days have introducing me to some of the tasks I will be doing.



The area seems to offer a lot of cool and interesting things and I find it exciting to find differences to Europe in expected and unexpected realms.
For example, during the last days I visited several bookshops and was amazed at the variety of Christian, religious, spiritual, esoteric books etc. which seemed a little strange to me. Also the tons of junk sitting on the highways like, sofas, burst tires, socks, shoes… a rather strange sight… also I don’t think I have ever seen these impressive amounts of dead animals around.

What I found particularly interesting was the variety of stickers on cars with very diverse and entertaining contents.


Currently I am living in Ann Arbor, which is slightly far away but I am confident to move closer soon.
This is going to be great opportunity to get to know American business habits and to explore the area. This will be my first time being in the US during Independence Day and I am particularly looking forward to that. I will keep you updated on any news and new things I discover, even though Mareike in her Blog below already pretty summed up the most obvious differences…

The comment about dead animals on the side of the road better not be in reference to the dead turtle... ;)

We refer to those dead animals as road kill.....they are considered gourmet treats by some Detroiters btw.

Seriously though, we glad to have you here at AutoCom and hope you'll find your stay here enjoyable and worthwhile!

 Hi or as we would say in Franconia "Servus", a couple of months have passed since I started my internship at AutoCom and even though I cannot share something about the amazing sites within and around Detroit, I can still give you an update on what is happening.  Philipp has joined us two months ago and we two are currently working on the Social Media Appearance of AutoCom. A New Year, a New Intern

Hi everybody, My name is Véronique and I am happy to say that I will be one of the new interns at AutoCom beginning on March 19. I am a 21 year old student from Germany. The internship is part of my International Business & Management degree that I am working on at the Hanze University in Groningen, Netherlands. I am currently in my third year at Hanze University and the previous semester I studied abroad at a partner university in Macau, China, where I took courses related to my marketing major. I am very excited to start my second stay abroad in a few weeks and I hope that I will gain a lot of professional experience and get to know the area of public relations while working at AutoCom. I also love traveling, so I hope I will be able to see as much of the U.S. as possible, especially since it is my first stay there. It feels good to be home!

After completing my third year at Northern Michigan University in the Upper Peninsula, it feels good to be back home and in the office again. Larry was very gracious in allowing me to come back to AutoCom. For those of you that do not know me, my name is Tedi Falvo. Last summer I did an internship with AutoCom, and learned a lot about public relations outside of the classroom. Books can only teach you so much- the real learning comes when you go out on your own and put everything you have learned to the test. Last summer was a great experience, and I was thankful to work with such a great staff that was willing to help me succeed. While I was in Marquette, Mich. continuing my studies in public relations, and sociology, I remained in contact with AutoCom.
