Goodbye and Happy Holidays!! The time has come to bid farewell to everybody and everything in the U.S. It has been a wonderful and most enriching time over the last six months. I happened to see a country with the widest free market and most outspoken liberty in the world. At the same, time I have seen the historical part in interesting and infamous artifacts from the past, such the very first Model T or Mackinac Island. Having never thought about experiencing all this just some time ago, I will be leaving the U.S. with a big smile. For what it’s worth, there is no doubt that this internship is one, if not the, highlight of my student life, which I will remember for a long time. AutoCom made it all possible, for which I am really grateful for. I met very many interesting people, like Jack, with his fundamental knowledge of everything he knows about the automotive industry. Taking his advice on trips in the States has proved to be quite helpful. Seeing Larry’s devotion to thing he does...
Some time has passed … Time flies with a speed light for me. Especially when you are juggling work and personal life. It has been several months since I have started at AutoCom. I have been incorporated in event planning, releases and various other tasks. Besides my AutoCom life, I have had the opportunity to do some traveling. My short vacation to California and Nevada was overwhelming. Among the places I have been to, are San Francisco, Santa Cruz, Reno and Virginia City. The trip enriched me both visually and culturally. It stretched from picturesque landscapes and high deserts to phenomenal structures and outstanding scenic views. To me, surprisingly, every site visit was exceptionally beautiful. I am looking forward to my future travels. My plans are to visit the nearby city of Chicago and to New York City. The list, however, could be subject to change … A cocktail of travel and work makes an overall great experience that is half-way through, but fortunately not over yet … I wil...

Last Day at AutoCom

Hi Everyone! This blog post will be my last as my internship is coming to an end. After four months, it is time for me to return home to Canada to continue my studies. It is difficult to summarize my experience at AutoCom and in metro-Detroit in words. I have had a wonderful time and have enjoyed working with the amazing AutoCom team. I can say with great appreciation that I have learned valuable lessons from each person at AutoCom. I am thankful to have had the opportunity to participate in the planning and execution of AutoCom’s events throughout the summer, including the 2011 Tech Crawl and AutoCom’s program in Traverse City. I look forward to applying the knowledge that I have gained throughout my internship to both my studies and my future endeavours. All the Best! Daryn

First Days

My trip started as a roller-coaster ride with lightning surrounding me in the skies. The flight from Frankfurt to Detroit was torture and a stomach ache experience, which I have never experienced before. I landed on a new continent with the same weather conditions as the ones which saw me off in the Old World. At first, everything reminded of the same old Europe I am accustomed to. However, then came massive vehicles, wide and multiple traffic lanes and gigantic family houses. The popular American Dream stood before my very eyes. The first day in the office reminded me of my first days at other work places. I got to know all the colleagues, familiarized myself with the policies and had a short introduction into the work flow of the company. I would say AutoCom has surpassed all my previous work places – the colleagues were exceptionally sincere, friendly and very helpful. The office appears to be a very cozy place with close family-like relationships. Every person at AutoCom has made a...
